Glossary of Terms

Mortal Realm – What would be known as the 'Material Plane' in other settings.
The Sear – Sometimes called the Spirit Realm, a place closely tied to the essence of magical energy. Includes many distinct realms such as the Feywild, the Elemental Planes, and others.
Tears – Aptly named as these are 'tears' in reality that separate the Mortal Realm from the Sear. In the Mortal Realm, this often manifests as places of Wild Magic. Thought to be a result of the Devastation, often located in the ruins of the ancient Aluthai civilization.
Aeternum – Sometimes referred to as 'Shards' these are crystalline pieces are thought to be the physical manifestation the creator being Aetur, after some event caused his destruction well before history. They can be extremely small to quite large crystals that contain large amounts of magical energy, which can be used in a variety of ways.
The Devastation – A cataclysmic event over a thousand years ago that caused the destruction of a moon, the annihilation of an ancient civilization and the formation of the Light-Trail.
The Light-Trail – A ring around the planet Oless, often seen by modern mythology as the home of the Gods or possibly the Titans, though it originated just over a thousand years ago.
Oless – The world the setting takes place in.
Sirene – A continent on the world of Oless, notably the home of the Daskari Empire and High Kingdom of Tillain.
The Wild Coast – An area of land in northern Sirene, just south of The Land of Ice and Shadow. It is sparsely inhabited, and is home to many dangerous creatures and ancient ruins.
The Land of Ice and Shadow – A chill and windswept land located in the great shadow of the Light-Trail. The sun is blocked and the temperatures cold enough for snow to accumulate, making it a place of white and grey and black. Notable features include the Blackwall and Beacon.
The Blackwall – A large wall, constructed by the Aluthai and once fueled by their magics. It is the last bastion of Sirene from the terrifying creatures beyond it.
Beacons – The magical power plants of the Aluthai, from which the Shedai settlement gets its name. Most were destroyed in the Devastation.
Red Menace – A plague that has appeared in the last hundred years on the continent of Sirene. Symptoms include coughing blood and fevers which kill many. Survivors often suffer damage to their throats and skin disfiguration in the form of purplish red blotches. Sometimes thought to be a curse of the Blood God, Tabath.
