Deverick is imprisoned by the Defiled.

Through an anonymous tipoff (which only Grindstaff could make), the Defiled are made aware of Deverick's actions and true intentions. He was no explorer or envoy, he was stealing technology and magical secrets and selling them to the highest bidder in the Thieves Guild, endangering the secret of the Defiled's existence to the world at large. Lady De'Fyll had 'the Mansion' built; a large estate inside a protective bubble within the deadly Miasma to imprison Deverick until he had exhausted his usefulness. It would be decades before Deverick would see his young son, Theron, again.
