Drow
Deep in the Underdark, there live a race of elves who have evolved to live a life outside the sun's reach. These are the drow, who live in the dark and practice their evil magic. Those few who escape their society are weak to the sun and are shunned by surface folk, but to them, anything's better than drow society.

Drow have a very matriarchal culture. In most drow cities, there will be a female leader assisted by a group of all females. Men have very little power in drow society.

Drow are most common in the Underdark, where they have large cities mostly populated by drow, but some also live on the surface.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Drow have excellent darkvision, better than other types of elf. Like other elves, they are especially adept at magic.

Gender Ideals
Females are expected to be strong and powerful while males are expected to be on the more frail side. Men typically find themselves working as merchants or artisans while females take leadership roles. That said, strong male leaders are not unheard-of.

Living in the Underdark, most drow's native language is undercommon.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Most races, including other elves, do not get along with the drow. They are known for being untrustworthy and worshipping evil gods. Most who leave their drow societies are trying to escape the dangerous culture, but that doesn't stop other races from looking down upon them.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Drow come in all shades of grey and purple and have white or light-colored hair. Their eyes are typically a pale purple or blue that can be almost white.
