Shields

Shields are equipment used by martial wariors to suplement their defenses. A shield is made from wood or metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a shield increases your Armor Class by 2 if you are proficient with shields. Dodging with a shield equiped grants 1/2 cover against ranged attack rolls if you are proficient in shields. You can benefit from only one Shield at a time.
A character can craft shields or augment them with the use of Smith's tools or Woodcarver's tools. They requires one of these toolsets and proficiency in those tools, a safe location to work uninterupted for the required crafting time, and the required materials and funds to craft the equipment.

Crafting Shields

Each shield can be created using the requisite materials, depicted in the Crafting Shields Table. Each Shield Type has a number of augmentation slots that determine the maximum number of augmentations that can be added to that shield. Magical shields require attunement. Some materials will yield a specialized shield with additional effects.

Skysteel

Requires any crafting materials to be Skysteel
The shield grants the wearer resistance to piercing damage. It can receive specialized augmentations: Shields - Skysteel Runes.
