Common Augmentations
Directed Lightsource
Requires 1 slotAs an action, the wearer can light up or dim a pattern on the shield. This pattern sheds bright light in a 15 ft. cone, and dim light a further 15 ft. The wearer has disadvantage on Stealth checks against being seen while the shield is lit up.
Engraving of Supernatural Shielding
Requires 1 slotThe shield can reduce incomming damage of certain damage types. Choose one of the folowing sets during the augmenting: fire and cold, radiant and necrotic, acid and poison, lightning and thunder, force and psychic. The wearer can use their reaction to reduce a single source of the chosen damage types by 3 (reduction before resistance).
Infernal/Celestial Inscription
Requires 1 slotThe shield is inscribed with glowing Infernal, or Celestial markings. The wearer can cast the cantrip Taumaturgy at will.
Invoke Boldness
Requires 1 slotThe wearer can cast the spell Heroism on themselves as a 1st-level spell. This ability can be used once per long rest.
Rederecting Surfaces
Requires 1 slotThe wearer has a +1 bonus to AC while taking the Dodge action.
Retractable
Requires 1 slotThe wearer can retract the shield into a gauntlet, bracelet, or other object worn on the wrist. Retracting or expanding the shield is done as a free action. The wearer has their shield hand free while the shield is retracted, but does not benefit from its bonus to AC, or any additional effects it may provide.
Shielding Width
Requires 1 slotWhen the wearer takes the Dodge action, both the wearer and any allied creature using them for cover count as having 3/4 cover against ranged attack rolls.
