Clare Callahan
Clare Callahan was one of the first children born in the newly founded town of Cape Otway; born in the as-yet-unfinished Callahan Manor. She was a quiet yet powerful woman, often described as the 'strong and silent' type, and grew to be greatly respected in the town. She was often called upon in her youth to settle disputes between villagers for she had the uncanny talent of determining the truth of any matter, and ended up working at the town courthouse so that she could easily be on call to bear witness to suspicious testimony.

Clare possessed the power of lie detection. Manifesting early in life, at the age of eleven, Clare was able to tell immediately when she heard a lie, no matter how cunningly told. This power grew so acutely specialised that she could determine any sly untruth or twist of words.
