Lamplighte
A small town boasting a population of about 1700 people, the town of Lamplighte is well known as a trade depot and place to rest on the long travels through the Estrosian countryside. They say that the town got its name from the unequivocal generosity the people share and the home they make for anyone who finds themselves staying in the town. The Lamps stay on late into the night like a beacon to safety for those weary and worn from the travel in the surrounded lights. The town is old, existing well before the Era of Peace started though the strained relationships since the turn of the era have never soured the kind nature of the people who call Lamplighte their home.
Demographics
Lamplighte, while a mostly human town like a lot of the settlements that dot the Estrosian countryside, is viewed as a large melting pot of different people. The population is about 75% human with a much smaller demographic of dwarves, elves, gnomes, halflings, and a small group of half-races. Walking through town one can even see a dragonborn or tiefling making a life for themselves within the walls of Lamplighte.
Government
Lamplighte has a lord or lady who handles all of the larger transactions and negotiations between the town's business owners and the larger estrosian government. As a small town in Aprus County the lord of Lamplighte works under the Count or Countess of Aprus and in turn answers to the king of Estros. It is up to the Lord of Lamplighte to handle the taxation of the locals, manage law enforcement, and handle trade exports all under the orders of those within the larger government.
Defences
The town's walls offer a large amount of protection from potential looters or pillagers, and the streets are kept safe by the Grey Guards who call Lamplighte home and dedicate their lives and safety for their people.
Industry & Trade
Most of Lamplighte's exports are that of farming and produce. However, a large sum of their income comes from the traveling merchants and the taxes and fees they pay in order to place their stalls along the busy thoroughfare in town.
Infrastructure
The town is of an old human build. The town walls are a mix of layered bricks and blog posts, most buildings are made from cobblestone, bricks, or thick logs, and the roofs are made from clay shingles and thatch. All of these buildings are built with special attention due to the warped land that makes up the hill the town is built atop. Large swaths of farmland can be found just north of the town's walls and an old moss-covered stone bridge crosses the river south of town.
Districts
The town is broken up into 3 major districts: the upper west hill, the hillsteps, and the south streets. Though the lines between the districts can be debated most agree that they are broken up by the major roads that stretch beyond the town square.
Assets
The town has multiple bustling businesses and shops including Elyjah's General Goods, Up the Heel, The Graceful Gift, Heavy Metal Works, Rushollow Greenhouse, Paela & Elven, The Fresh Loaf, The Lovely Pincushion, and the Raw Cut. They also boast a hearty tavern crowd who find most of their nights at the Ranger and the Mount, or the Ranger for short. The town's temple is known as the Waystone and anything that cannot be found within the prominent stores can most likely be discovered within the constantly changing marketplace in the center of town.
Geography
Lamplighte is built into the rolling hills of the country side, bordered by the Stillhand River to the west and temperate forests to the north and east.
