Clan Deepsoul
To any dwarf clan, mountains aren't just a home but a way of life. To the stubborn folk, the more challenging the mountains, the more worthy the home. In that way, no mountains could possibly be more worthy than those beneath the sea.
Structure
Clan Deepsoul, like any other dwarven clan, is led by a king or queen elected by the clan. This person is meant to be the most worthy in deed that the clan has to offer.
The next most important person in the clan is the craftmaster. This person serves in a capacity similar to a court wizard, leading and training the clan's mages. Additionally, there are also in charge of the creation and enchantment of magical items. The word of the craftmaster is held in great esteem. Each craftmaster is selected by their predecessor.
History
As with most dwarf clans, the history of Clan Deepsoul begins with a single person: Torrek Rocksplitter. Torrek was a wizard traveling with a party of adventurers. On a crossing on the way to Jinto, he got drunk and fell from the ship.
He used his magic to allow himself to breathe water so that he might survive. He explored his new watery surroundings thoroughly and slew many enemies great and small. Eventually, he longed for the companionship of his fellow dwarves.
He returned home and declared before the kings and queens of the dwarf clans that he was founding his own clan, offering the beak of a kraken as proof of his worthiness. They accepted his worthiness and named him "Torrek of Clan Deepsoul".
He led his new clan to the mountains deep beneath the Dawn Sea, and his fellows relished the challenge. In just one dwarven lifetime, they had conquered that mountain and created a worthy clanhold.
There they remained, mining their mountain home, and making brief forays into The Warrens.Religion
The dwarves of Clan Deepsoul primarily worship the goddess Selai, the goddess of valor and a patron of protectors. Because of the role magic plays in clan life, many follow Sion, the god of mages, instead.
Foreign Relations
For a vast majority of its history, the Deepsoul Clanhold has been closed to the outside world. For millennia, their only contact with others was travel via teleportation circles with other dwarven clanholds.
That practice of isolation was only broken with the election of King Voldic. He was the one who made the decision to share their crafts with the people of the Dawn Sea. The clanhold still remained closed, but for the first time ever, trade was flowing.
Agriculture & Industry
Clan Deepsoul is very traditional among the dwarves, so most of their lives revolve around mining. They pull iron, copper, gold and silver out of the mineral-rich mountains surrounding them. These metals are then smelted into better alloys and worked into the finest finished products.
Their basic needs are sustained by farmers that grow edible mushrooms and raise rothe or goats. Clan Deepsoul also has a great many fisherman to collect food from the sea.
Trade & Transport
When Clan Deepsoul started trading with Mir'assen they were so secretive about it that even the most well-informed people, such as Ebon, had no idea where these dwarven crafts were coming from. Even now, those few who have seen their shop resupplied have only seen it done at night by caravan.
This caravan comes at seemingly random intervals and from different directions. As intended, it is believed no non-dwarves know the location of the Deepsoul Clanhold.
They have been making a great deal of money selling their metal crafts. Most of what they sell are weapons and armor, but they also offer more innocuous things like cookware, sculptures, or toys. They seem to have no interest in importing anything at all.
