Ebon
The founder and owner of of the Den of Dreams has, so far as anyone in Mir'assen knows, been devoted to nothing more than moving luxury goods to discerning customers.
Unbeknownst to most, these products were obtained through morally questionable or repugnant means. He, in fact, ran a very extensive network of thieves, spies and cutthroats using his drug den as nothing more than a legitimate front, albeit a very profitable one.
Physical Description
Body Features
Ebon is small in both stature and build, but what he lacks in strength he more than makes up for in agility. His body was covered in short black fur, and he had a tail that often flicked lazily. His feline ears stood constantly on end, and he always had a cold, appraising stare on his face.
Apparel & Accessories
Ebon only wore the finest clothes. He was most proud of a custom velvet coat that seemed capable of changing colors, but was most often a deep, luxurious burgundy. He also wore a pair of short swords on his hip, citing his need for protection as the reason.

Personal history
Absolutely nothing was known about Ebon when he arrived in Mir'assen without so much as a coin or pearl in his pocket. He swam into the finest lounge in the city, promised the social elites there that he could provide exotic goods from the overworld, and asked if they wanted to order anything.
When they heard that from a tabaxi in rags, they laughed in his face. They ordered outlandish things like the tooth of a red dragon, lightning in a bottle, the crown jewels of a king of Kirris, among many other equally ridiculous items. To their shock, he only said that delivery would be forthcoming, and swam away.
One by one, his orders were delivered and the stunned clients each paid a king's ransom. Such was their amazement that they forgot entirely that they didn't even truly want these things. Ebon quickly became the talk of the town.
The authorities were, of course, suspicious of both him and the treasures he sold. The items were deemed to be genuine, drawing more suspicion on the merchant. Even so, no evidence of his wrongdoing could ever be found.
Now a financial success, Ebon desired comfort and status. He purchased the lounge where he first revealed himself, paying far less than the property's actual value before the former owner left to live with relatives in the Sea of Claws. The tabaxi merchant then converted the place to a den of emerald salts called the Den of Dreams.
Shortly thereafter, several den owners and salt suppliers suffered a string of terrible tragedies. Some suffered fatal overdoses of their own products, or were forced to leave the Dawn Sea. Many more simply disappeared, and still others were imprisoned for the murder of their competitors. It wasn't long before Ebon had an ironclad monopoly on the addictive drug.
His monopoly on overworld items seemed to be slipping, however, when a large supply of fine dwarven metalworks became available. In an attempt to control the market, he hired the Cake Squad, an inexperienced party of adventurers. They sided with Clan Deepsoul against him and easily killed him.
After his death, a ledger came to light that revealed his criminal activities. The Den of Dreams was sold at auction, and his criminal empire fell into chaos. So far, none have filled the power vacuum, and his overworld contacts have been lost.
Intellectual Characteristics
Ebon was an incredibly shrewd businessman, able to not only dominate two very lucrative markets, but to seem totally innocent while doing so. He was aided in his efforts by a total lack of conscience, able to use the most horrific tactics to advance his own interests.
Wealth & Financial state
The tabaxi merchant's trading in both luxury items and drugs left the man fabulously wealthy. A small fortune was recovered from the Den of Dreams, and far more wealth was claimed by the city from a series of local banks. Rumors on Mir'assen's streets whisper of hidden caches of money, drugs and magical items untouched by authorities.
