Finding the Dark One's Tomb
The gang set out to find the tomb of the dark one. They travel to the western region of southern Brittany, possibly find the tomb and remove the goods.
Plot points/Scenes
The gang are summoned by Father Tossil. He has gotten word that villagers on a part of the southern edge of Brittany have had contact with a group of cloaked individuals moving through the area. They all had pouches with blades attached to it. It seems that they have found the region of the tomb of the dark one.
Once three they are greeted by the villagers who have no love for the outsiders. They are given the option of staying in one of the villages or homesteads there to use as a base.
The first night they stay there, they find the village eerily quiet except for the odd wet thud. In the morning nothing seems out of place and they can go exploring. It is likely they will find the tomb and it has already been dug up, but the gear spread around shows that the thieves have all vanished and the gear still there. They can collect the armour, cloak, and daggers, and anything else they want before returning. By this time night has fallen.
When in the tavern, they will be interrupted by a drunk local called Stephan who will ask them if they are ready for the ritual tonight. Either through them asking "What ritual?" or by locals, he will be told to shut up and ushered out quickly. Nobody will talk openly about the 'ritual' but will be informed that it's a local tradition, and not to worry.
Later that night hey will be woken up by strange drumming and discordant flutes being played. If investigated, they will see the locals around a small fire dancing near an old warped tree & talking in a bizarre language similar to Deep Speech. Shortly after, their skin separates from their bodies (which all stay in place), and the skin keeps moving. They may interrupt or they may hide, with a risk of being found.
It turns out that they worship a local god that lives under the tree called Ul'An'Kail, and the the previous Bladed Pouch members were killed by them as this month is their holy month, and they have to sacrifice as much outsiders as possible. Then they attack. If the team stays the risk of being attacked goes up, and they find out that the god is a Star Spawn of immeasurable power growing stronger with time, and that they are due to be the next sacrifices.
The quicker they leave the less chance of finding out the village's secret, but chances are they may stumble into another one of the villages or hamlets nearby and find them the same.
