Taygete City Council

At one point, when Lacedaemon was first colonized by people from Ancient Greece, (though it wasn’t ancient at the time,) the settlement that would become Taygete was a City State. Once the rule of the colony expanded to encompass the planet it became too much for the ruler to both govern a city and an entire planet, so they decided a smaller group would focus on the city and answer to the planetary government. When Lacedaemon became an absolute monarchy for several centuries the city council remained curiously enough democratic, and it was through the city council that the planet returned to a democracy with a figurehead monarchy.
