Space Marshal
The Space Marshals were meant to be law enforcement officers whose jurisdiction was the entire galaxy. Unfortunately the Space Marshals Corps dissolved when the civilization on New Mycenae fell and at that time mainly Hellenistic worlds, plus a few others, had signed the Space Marshals Accord. Nobody knows how far it could have gone if the organization had continued to exist.
The Space Marshals could take suspects into custody on any of the signatory worlds, and the organization negotiated with other worlds for extradition rights and the possibility of cooperation with local law enforcement. Some claim that the Space Marshals could have been able to bring law and order even to Achlys, the most lawless world in the galaxy, where it’s nowadays suicidal to walk the streets wearing any kind of uniform.
