Ogygia Base
Because of the strategic importance of the i[Illyrian System] the Coalition Space Fleet established a military base on Calypso’s moon, Ogygia, in 2954.
The base was assembled from the prefabricated modular units that the military favored. These modules are lowered onto the planet’s surface, from a ship, through a fold in space that is projected from inside the ship’s cargo hold. This requires that the ship is in a geostationary orbit or, in the case of a tidally locked planet or moon, the ship takes up position at a Lagrange Point, which limits the number of locations where a base can be established. Ogygia Base was established by having ships lowering the modules from Lagrange Point One, between the moon and the planet. A person standing inside Ogygia Base would have to look straight up to see Calypso.
