Human

Humans are a short lived and deeply varied race. They find themselves living almost everywhere, and the citizens of any one place will tell you that it's the best place to be from. Humans come in all varieties, indeed they seem more varied than other races in terms of personalities and temperaments. This may have to do with their wanderlust. Whereas an Elf child will have decades or even centuries to learn the customs of their people a human child is likely to strike out on their own at ages as young as ten years. Thus they each seem to almost be a culture unto themselves.
Human settlements and cities will start to take on a cohesive culture and set of mannerisms, and the few human nations that have grown up have done well at codifying laws and expectations that bring them more in line with civilized society.

Everywhere. Anywhere that isn't already claimed and plenty of places that were.

Average Intelligence

Sharp-witted humans exist, but have less lifespan in which to train their wit. Wise humans exist, but have less lifespan in which to accrue wisdom... you get the pattern. The limited lifespan of humanity has spurred them to create academies and ivory towers, libraries and galleries, so that each individual human may build on the works of previous humans and thus not lose quite as much ground against the elves.
