Human
The native denizens of the Human Realm. Humans are known for their adaptability and ingenuity, a result of their high Gravitas and social capacity.
There are five variants of humans, arising from the influence of other species:
Humans
The original form of the species, uninfluenced by other species.
Brownies
A subset of human that arose from human and kinfolk relations where the kinfolk heritage was carried through human generations. One of the two common variants.
Alkonost
A subset of human that arose from human and siren relations where the siren heritage was carried through human generations. One of the two common variants.
Imp
A subset of human that arose from human and demon relations where the demonic heritage was carried through human generations. An uncommon variant.
Magus
A subset of human that arose from human and elf relaitons where the elven heritage was carried through human generations. An uncommon variant.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Almost all humans are bipedal with plantigrade feet, and have two arms and two eyes.
Humans
Small rounded ears and most grow a light amount of hair over their entire bodies, with a thicker amount on top of their heads and/or on their face.
Brownies
Grow patches of thick fur on their backs, shoulders, and underarms - tapering above their bobbed-tails. Their hair is both denser and more coarse than traditional human hair. They have rounded bestial ears, paw-like feet, and clawed hands.
Alkonost
The only humans that are digitigrade with avian feet. They have feathers on their heads and down their backs in place of hair, with mostly hairless bodies.
Imp
Mostly hairless except for their heads. They have pointed ears, black sclera, small protuding fangs, clawed hands, and smooth, spade-ended tails.
Magus
They have paw-like feet and hands, with pointed ears, and slit-pupiled eyes.
Genetics and Reproduction
Humans reproduce sexually, and pregnancy usually lasts around nine months.
Besides other humans, they can reproduce with sirens, kinfolk, demons, and elves.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Humans have fairly good overall physical senses.
Imps and magus have better hearing than other human variants. Alkonost have better eyesight, while Brownies have a better sense of smell. Due to their elven heritage, magus are more likely to be able to use magic than other humans.

Due to the large array of cultures, humans do not have a species wide common naming tradition.
In most cultures, there is a delination between names in relation to gender.

The largest and most influential country on the Eyelse conteninant, which controls both the Elven Realm Gate and Champion Gate to the Demon Realm.
Strongarm Coalition
Nations united against the Imperial blockade of demon goods and the general view that demons are inherently evil beings. Notable participants include Erei and Vede.

History
Humans have a wide variety of cultures and mythos, spread across two large continents. However, certain regions have more commonalities than others.
On the ring-shaped Eyelse continent, there are four traditional regions - the Northwestern Reaches, known for its hardy mountain people; the Southwestern Bend, known for its lively people and beautiful coasts; The Crunch, known for its badlands caused by the odd tides of the Inner Sea; and the Eye of the Inner Sea, known as the home of the pirate country of Asalban.
The eastern side of Eyelse was once home to several city-states, known collectively as the Eastern Marches - as their borders often shifted and no fully-fledged countries emerged from them. While the region is now united under the banner of the Holy Divine Sacred Empire of Angelic Purification, it is still referred to as the Eastern Marches in a geographic sense.
Across the Outer Sea lies the Zhanei Continent. The entire coast facing the Eyelse is ruled by the country of Erei, the largest and most influential country on Zhanei known for its beautiful fabrics and impressive navy.
The The First Great Invasion significantly altered human history of the time - with seven demon kings invading the human realm and conquering nations by force. Four took over cities in the Eastern Marches - as the Marches held the Demon Realm Gate. The other three traveled to the Southwestern Bend - as the Demon Realm has no oceans, the badlands of the Crunch wre easier for them to traverse on land than the mountains between the Marches and the Northwestern Reaches.
While the demon kings themselves treated their new citizens well - as forced occupation was the most common way one became a ruler in the Demon Realm - the deposed monarchs wished to regain their power. However, as the citizens of the Eastern Marches saw mostly quick improvements to their quality of life, their former monarchs and their descendants increasingly struggled to mount a military force as time went on. This would lead them to appealing to the gods for aide - and being granted the knowledge of Champion Summoning.
With the divinely powerful Champion from another world, most of the descendants of the Marches monarchs reclaimed their former seats of power by defeating their usurpers. During this time, the Ascended Demon King Lavven made his own forays into the Human Realm - intent on bringing the "false" kings to heel. He managed to bring back three more before being confronted by the Champion himself in what would come to known as the Battle of the Ascended.
The last of the false demon kings fled to the Elven Realm, escaping both Lavven and the Champion.
This battle would forever alter the landscape surrounding the Champion Gate, and would lead to the formation of the Empire of Angelic Purification - which would grow in both name and size to accomplish its mission of wiping out the "demon threat" facing humanity.
In the current era, the Empire is the largest and most influential country on the Eyelse - with Erei very close in size leading the Strongarm Coalition in opposition to the Empire's moralistic views on demonity, and more practically opposing their blockade of demon goods to the rest of the realm.
Most imps can trace their linage back to the First Great Invasion - and have been systematically pushed out of the Empire as it expanded and persecuted them as "tainted" beings. They settled the country of Vede in the Crunch, wheere the gods evenutally placed a new, hidden gate to the Demon Realm. Outside the Empire, imps do not have the same negative reputation nor face persectuion - those in the Southwestern Bend being descendants of demons that remained by choice after their former kings returned to the Demon Realm with Lavven. Like the cities of the Eastern Marches, the demon kings of the Bend treated their citizens well, and the Empire has not yet attempted to retake those kingdoms once ruled by demons.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Humans often form relationships with siren and kinfolk partners, due to the close relationship of their Realms. These are not seen as particularly special for being commonplace.
Due to longstanding animosity, most humans are against relationships formed with demon partners - though the level of stigma varies. Countries more heavily affected by the various Demon King Invasions tend to take a stronger stance against human/demon relationships than those least affected.
Humans have a high opinion of relationships with elf partners, due to the admiration of their magical abilities most humans feel.
Humans rarely interact with other species outside of these four, and so see relationships between any other species as novel.

Average Physique
Humans have a wide range of physiques, with no distinct average.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Humans come in various skin tones of pinkish beige to deep brown and near black. Some have freckles, and others might have marking such as vitiligo, moles, or birthmarks.
Alkonost tend to have a gray pallor to their skin. Imps have demon style markings, in the same wide color variety as demons. Magus have spots and/or stripes in a darker shade than their skin tone, like elves.
