Personal history

Aesly was always an outspoken child - which could get her into trouble growing up with the other servant children in the castle at Urding in Jost. She was loud and bright, and never afraid of speaking her mind - her own mother often encouraged this, but tried to temper her to be more polite about it. Aesly's older brother Owren was the responsible one of the two, and often cleaned up his sister's messes.    Aesly met her first and only romantic love as a teenager - a local florist named Damian that loved her outspoken nature as much as she did. The pair married as young adults, and Aesly moved into town to live with Damian. Unfortunately, after several years, Damian was attacked by a bear while out gathering flowers. With the death of her husband, Aesly moved back to the castle with her brother.    That was where she met the crown prince, Ebener. He had recently lost his wife, and was spending time in the gardens alone to grieve. Aesly struck up a conversation, knowing his pain well. The pair met often, finding comfort in each other's company - which led to Aesly becoming pregnant. While Ebener offered many things as a way to take responsibility, Aesly asked for only one promise - that their child would always have work in the castle She wanted to ensure her child's future, but had no desire to remarry - especially not to the future king.    After Ebener's coronation, Aesly saw much less of him - but that suited her fine, as she focused on raising her son, Braelin. The boy was her opposite in almost every way - quiet and soft-spoken as he grew. However, he was as unafraid as his mother to speak his mind - and loved plants twice as much as she did. Aesly loved raising her son, and was grateful to her brother for his help.    She was happy when Ebener came to meet his younger son in person, but still insisted on raising him herself - and finally convinced Ebener of this by pointing out the line of succession. She didn't want the complicated life of nobility for Braelin, which unfortunately meant it was best if her son's father kept his distance.    When her son was only seven, Aesly died in an unfortunate accident involving a runaway cart.
