Fae's Presence
We had no idea what we had stumbled upon - we were following the river south through the Alsocius Forest when we heard a waterfall ahead. We continued along, planning to look for a way down from the top. When we got there, we stopped, frozen by the sight before us.
I don't have the words to describe what was before us. There were colors there that I'd never seen before, in the mists rising from the base of the waterfall and the wildflowers growing on the banks of the river. Giant mushrooms clung to the shadows of the cliffs and under the branches of enormous willow trees at the water's edge. The tops of the largest trees - bigger than any I'd seen - stretched up above the cliffs, and offered what seemed the easiest path down.
We finally tore ourselves away from the view when we realized we needed to move if we wanted to get to the bottom before the sun sank. The river must have swung west here, because we could see it setting as we climbed down one of the great trees and it looked like it would plunge right into the river. As we stood on the banks of the lake that formed at the bottom of the waterfall, we looked down the river to the setting sun, the riotous colors of the wildflowers all around us.
But that was nothing compared to what came that night. Unfortunately, my mug is empty, and I've worked up quite a thirst.
Geography
Fae's Presence is the meeting place of the courts of Fae. It is an extension of Faerie that crosses fully into the Terrene from time to time. It will always happen on the solstices and equinoxes, as well as at the whim of the current ruler. It does not have a set location, but can appear anywhere with a river, bending the geography of the surrounding land as needed to accommodate it.
The Presence is at the base of sheer cliffs, with a waterfall cascading into a large pool below it. The river flows on from the pool, always running to the west. Sunrises and sets are spectacular in the Presence: the sun will rise as though through the spray of the waterfall, shattering the light into vibrant rainbows, while it will set into the river, Turning the ever moving surface into a swirl of reds, yellows, and oranges. No matter the time of year, the land and flora are stunning in their beauty. The pool is surprisingly deep, supporting a large number of fish and amphibians. There is a cave in the bottom of the pool, although where it leads is as inconstant as Fae's Presence itself.
Fauna & Flora
The Fae's Presence has a huge variety of plant and animal life, and it greatly depends on the location and season. The dominant court when and where it appears will dictate the types - if the Seelie Court is ascendant, there will be enormous plant life in riotous colors throughout the Presence, while under the Unseelie there will be snow covered pines, blooming heather, and giant cabbages and gourds.
The pool is always full of various fish species, although at the height of the Unseelie, it will be frozen over. Animals appropriate to the region will be there, with the exception of any apex predator. That niche is filled by the Fae themselves.
These plants and animals are all there to serve the whims of the ascendant Fae.
