Tomb of Diderius

The Tomb of Diderius is a large tomb built for the eponymous wizard Diderius. It once served as a manse to guard the legendary divination pool inside, which is said to allow one to see things hidden from normal divination magic, but was converted into a tomb following the wizard's death. A settlement was stood outside the tomb, but any knowledge of it has been lost to time. The tomb itself was protected by one of Diderius's ghostly attendants, Ilda.

Purpose / Function

The tomb was originally built to serve as the wizard Diderius's study and to protect the magical divination pool inside. In time, the tomb later became the central hub for a small community that formed outside.   Following Didierius's death, the area was converted into a tomb for the wizard, though all the traps built to protect the divination pool were left in place.

Architecture

The interior of the tomb contained many traps for those seeking to uncover its fortunes. The tomb's opening contained an elaborate mosaic that could come to life and attack intruders. In addition, a false throne room was placed in order to trick grave robbers, preventing them from finding Diderius's true resting place further in.

History

An unknown amount of time ago, the wizard Diderius built this structure to protect the pool of divination inside. This structure later became a hub for a small settlement and eventually served as Diderius's tomb.   Sometime before 1492, a group of yuan-ti, native to the Snakehills, carved out much of the back of the tomb, creating a home that was partially protected by the traps installed long ago. They also sought to use the divination pool for their own nefarious purposes.   In mid-1492, Varram the Blue sought out the Tomb in order to make use of the divination pool to locate the stolen Greave of the Blue Dragon. While he was able to discern that the stolen item was in Darkhold Keep, he was quickly captured by the local yuan-ti, who planned to sacrifice him.   Hot on Varram's heels, the Breadwinners also arrived at the tomb. They fought their way past the tomb's traps and located the divination pool, where Legolass Darkblade witnessed herself being saved by a glowing golden hand. The adventurers rescued Varram from the yuan-ti and left with him in tow.
