Apollo Medical and Hermes All in One Way Station
Purpose / Function
Apollo medical is a small to medium health and emergency medical clinic. Ships, mining sites and space stations usually have medical on staff but space is a terrifying place. In order to keep the citizens of SOL safe, Apollo medical fills the void, literally. The franchise is located all over the solar system. Each medical clinic is outfitted to handle a variety of emergency and general medicine that are required for those who ship cargo anywhere from the outer reaches of the Kuiper belt all the way to Venus and back.
The size of the Apollo medical varies by location, those closer to larger space stations such as Epsilon are smaller clinic style medical centres. Those further out have full emergency and trauma centres with their own ambulance service for larger emergencies.
Packaged with the medical centre and what makes the services free, is the Hermes Way-Station and Refuel. For many long haulers, the stops are one of the few places they'll see another person, let alone have regular access to medical care. These centres allow for regular medical care as well emergency medicine for those trauma cases that come in. While most emergencies in space are assumed to be fatal, the intervention of Apollo Medical and their fleet of paramedics has made emergencies easier to catch and easier to prevent.
Architecture
Taking a page out of ancient history books, the Apollo medical centre retains the Grecian style of the orcale of Delphi with large marble-esque columns and vaulted ceilings with large doors. The entire Waystation is surrounded by a giant dome enclosure with cargo parking and refilling stations dotted along the outside of the dome. The Medical Centre is state of the art with both human and AI assisted staff. A large garden fills the grounds, with trees and fountains creating a bit of terran greenery -- something new medicine has discovered is a necessity for those living off Earth.
The Building is usually large enough for a clinic and some overnight stay beds for those who require extra care. There is a trauma care centre with ambulance bay for trauma care and full gym with pool for relaxation and rehabilitation on the road.
History
Created in 389AF the Apollo Medical Clinics came as a response to several extraordinary traumatic events that took place between 383 and 388. Ceres, Vesta, and three other mining locations withing the asteroid belt experienced a series of explosions and faulty mining equipment that hadn't been upgraded appropriately. The medical intervention had been lackluster at best and deeply troubling. In response a collective sprung up and opened up a trauma centre, Emergency Room specifically for easy travel between the various mining locations within the belt.
The clinic took off and became a popular stop for cargo haulers and space truckers who spent months and years on the space highways between the mining locations and the drop offs and processing plants. Rather than force miners and others to fund their healthcare, Apollo partnered with another franchise of refuelling stations under the moniker Hermes Fly by Diner and Gas.
