Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Freeman is tall, with long limbs and broad shoulders. He is not quite skinny, but lean and muscular, and the sheer size of Terrance makes him an imposing figure.
Special abilities
Penance is supernaturally strong and near indestructable.
Apparel & Accessories
Penance fights with a pair of warhammers, his enormous strength allowing for unexpected recovery with each swing. He seems to weild them with the ease someone his age would a broom handle, but the impact can shatter stone, and the the spikes puncture armor.

Personal history
Terrance came from an ultra orthodox Illuminist family. He was raised in a locked room, under sun lamps for most of his childhood. When his older brother attempted to escape, his mother near beating the boy to death in front of the other children.
The event traumatized him, activating his latent Shifted abilities. His body toughened to an incredible degree, and his strength along with it. Unaware of the change, he stepped up to protect his brother and accidentally murdered both is parents as they turned their rage towards him.
The family was moved into the system, where the abilities caught the eye of the Winston-Park researchers who had the police move him to the Underhill Behavior Health Institute. After weeks of observation and stress testing, the doctors moved to vivisection to better understand the nature of his abilities and how to militarize them.
The Mother Superior had other plans, infiltrating the subteranian fortress and extracting the boy (leaving a trail of bodies behind.) She erased all record of his past, granting him a new identity and a home at the Saint Anne Orphanage and School.
He was immediately inducted into the Nightstalkers, much to the displeasure of the others as they were traditionally a sisterhood. Penance soon proved his mettle, training as hard as any of them, gladly throwing his body in harms way to protect the team.
Mental Trauma
As an artifact of his childhood, Terrance is terrified of absolute darkness, and has been known to go beserk when unable to see any light. The Nightstalkers all carry flares and light sources to bring him back to his senses.

Personality Quirks
Terrance spent many years not speaking after being rescued from the Underhill Behavior Health Institute by Mother Superior. When he finally began to speak again, he affected a slow and thoughtful cadence, with lots of long pauses and pained expressions.

Religious Views
Freeman seems to have retained his religious beliefs despite the nature of his unbringing, and fervantly attends services and observes the tenants of Illuminism.
Mannerisms
Penance perennially has a stoney look to his face, making uncomfortable eye contact for prolongued periods of time.
Speech
Penance has never spoken or shown any real affection for his teammates. It is unknown if this is a result of his trauma, a side effect of his Shifting, or just how he always was.
