Doctor M

Background:
Doctor Marcus Michael Mercer was born in 1915 in the tenements of New York City, a child of extreme poverty and violence. His father, a criminal, left him a dark legacy, while his mother struggled to survive by any means necessary. Marcus grew up with a deep resentment of the privileged and learned quickly that he could only rely on himself. Despite this harsh upbringing, Marcus was gifted with a brilliant mind, devouring books on science, engineering, and mathematics.
Through cunning and forgery, he broke into academia, where he excelled. Over time, Marcus transitioned from street-level criminality to master strategist and inventor. In the late 1930s, his life was forever changed when he encountered Stellar Man, the world’s first superhero. Determined to prove the superiority of human ingenuity over superhuman powers, Doctor M became the first true Supervillain, wearing the title as a badge of honor.
By the 1970s, he founded New Libertalia, a nation for supervillains, where power, autonomy, and strength are the guiding principles. Doctor M’s nation thrives as a hub of technological, scientific, and magical advancement, built as a utopia for those outcast by traditional society.
  Personality:
Doctor M is a man driven by ambition, intellect, and a desire for power. Cold, calculating, and ruthless, he believes that true strength lies in intellect and strategy. He has a flair for the dramatic, famously stating, "Anyone can be a villain, a criminal, or a killer but to be a true Supervillain worthy of that title, you need drama, panache, and a sense of style."
Despite his villainous tendencies, Doctor M respects intelligence and strength, even in his enemies, as evidenced by his complicated respect for Stellar Man. His vision for New Libertalia reflects his belief that humanity thrives when free from the constraints of traditional morality and laws. In his eyes, power is the ultimate measure of worth, and only the strongest deserve true freedom. His legacy as the world’s first true Supervillain is secured through his nation and his descendants, particularly his granddaughter, Lady Armora.
