Fairburn Skyland

A smaller skyland, covered in rolling grasslands and beautiful woods. Named for the founder of the first settlement here, it is a beautiful place and perfect for a farming lifestyle.

Geography

Fairburn Skyland is made up mostly of rolling fields, crisscrossed by rivers formed from the only mountain on the skyland. The terrain lends itself to farming, and the soil is healthy and mulchy.

Fauna & Flora

Deep green grass, growing to waist length, rolls through the hills. Leafy oaks and evergreens dot the landscape, often clumping into patches of woods thick with underbrush. Crows, robins, and sparrows flit between the branches, singing their songs, while small rodents and foxes dart from bush to bush, seeking their next meal. Wolves howl from the mountaintop at night, and many antlered deer graze gracefully in the glades.

Natural Resources

The soil on Fairburn is rich with nutrients, perfect for the growing of crops.

History

Fairburn Skyland is a rather unassuming place, with almost no noteworthy history, save for one particularly interesting event. Originally settled by Imperial colonists, the outpost of Feveno soon became a bustling town. However after the War for Secession from the Empire, the people of Fairburn found themselves under Federation citizenship. The skyland remained a quiet place, only visited by merchants and traders.   In the early days of Yonum, 1458, Fairburn became the site of a phenomenon known as "The Awakening". The arrival of a cosmic being called the Drift granted, seemingly, every animal on Fairburn mental sentience and the dexterity of most humanoids. It was only about a month later that the effects of the Awakening seemed to be reversed, by the destruction of the Drift. However during this time, much turmoil was suffered by the people of Fairburn at the hands of psychotic and deranged animals, using their newfound sentience to wreak havoc.
There are 3 settlements here: Feveno, Trange-sur-lorre, and Arstice. Many make their homesteads further out from the settlements, and farms can be found all over the skyland.
