History
When Essie met Rowin, she disliked him immediately. Rowin seemed to see right through her. Initially, Rowin was intrigued by her, but had no thoughts of love. He did compare her to Genevieve, who was practically his sister. Essie grew to like Rowin eventually, but would not admit it. Before the Battle of Warn Abbey, Dreath, Rowin's best friend, told Essie that Rowin had said to protect her no matter what. Essie was truly touched. When the two met again in the dungeons of Dimtaline, Essie almost had an emotional breakdown. By the end of the first portion of the War of the Crystals, Essie no longer professed dislike of Rowin and even gave him a hug. Rowin left Endurae to go to Dorn and was absent for over two years. When he returned, Essie and Rowin picked up their relationship right where they left off. Through the fourth portion of the war, they both realized they loved each other, and, when they believed they might never see each other again, they confessed it. Later, when Essie was stabbed by Dimtalon, Rowin was often by her sickbed. A year or so later, Rowin proposed marriage. They were married within a few months and would have four children together: Valor, Ardlyn, Fador, and Milerna.
History
Lucy always had a good relationship with her daughter. The family of four was always together, though Lucy and her husband Fmar had much work to do apart from their children. Lucy died when Essie was eight. Because of this, Essie sometimes feels like she never really knew her mother, especially after she found out all the secrets Lucy kept from her. Essie does not hold this against her, though, as Essie was only eight when Lucy died.
History
Though Lar and Essie grew up together, they were never close. They did play together as children, but when Essie's parents died, their relationship really went downhill. Essie matured quickly, while Lar never really matured at all. Lar often talked of how he did not like Essie and vice versa, though Essie always tried to be nice to her cousin. When Lar became king, Essie supported him as much as she could. She was the only person he turned to. He asked her for help. Essie was not there when Lar was killed, but she lamented his loss.
History
Helen and Essie lived in the same castle for eight years, but they did not see much of each other, due to Helen's mental illness. She was never stable. As a child, Essie did like her aunt. When Essie was eight, Helen disappeared and was not heard of for ten years. Ten years later, Essie ran into Helen at Warn Abbey, though Helen was known as Jora to those people. Essie did not recognize her aunt. Helen seemed to be afraid of Essie, and she often called her by her mother's name: Lucy. She only discovered that she was her aunt when Ganmar recognized Helen at the Battle of Dimtaline. Helen was soon killed by Dimtalon, and Essie never really knew her aunt at all.
History
Genevieve and Essie first met in the first portion of the War of the Crystals. They were forced to be housed in the same room and took an immediate dislike to each other. Essie was keeping secrets, and Genevieve wanted to know what those secrets were. They became a little less hostile over the course of the war. After the first portion of the War of the Crystals ended, Genevieve and Essie became good friends, and remained so their entire lives.
