While most of the abbey's army is off trying to get the Crystal, the abbey is attacked by the bulk of Dimtalin's army. The abbey is captured and Tolen,Lady Essie, and Captain Dreath are all captured.
Dimtalin's men meet the Endurian army on top of the Eleventh Mountain. In a confusion of events, the Red Crystal of Truth is pulled out of the mountain by Rowin Endurae. Dimtalin leaves with the Crystal.
In a final attempt to free Endurae, the free Endurians attacked Dimtaline. During the battle, Helen, former queen of Endurae, died. In exchange for Lady Essie's life, Dimtalin escaped with the Red Crystal of Truth.
Though she had died one week earlier, Helen Endurae was not buried for a week, as she would be buried in Chagner.
