The Rest Home is many things, a place to talk your feelings, a place to learn, and most of all, a place to heal. In its essence, The Rest Home resides in the middle of Sanctuary Village, equidistant to any dwelling, so that it may be especially accessible to those who need it. Here is the place that people come to when they feel depressed, have an illness or require medicine for their conditions. The Rest Home also boasts a modest schoolhouse for those who wish to learn the art of healing and rooms to rest or talk within. Cleric Rowan can always be found around The Rest Home, whether he is teaching, healing or talking to an especially despondent soul.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the Resting House is to care for those who are sick enough that the apothecary cannot fully accommodate them. The Resting House also helps people with temporary illnesses and injuries, such as the cowpox or a broken arm. Lastly, The Resting House is used as a place to teach about healing to the young people of the village, and for the town cleric to train in.

Alterations

Each generation the Healing House grows as its needs grow. When Sanctuary Village was first established it was a simple and small hut made out of wood. Since then it has expanded through might and magic to become one of the larger buildings in the village, with spaces for everything from operations to a storehouse for the many medical materials used to treat maladies and injuries.

Architecture

The Resting House is made out of wood taken from The Twisting Forest, and enchanted by Fae villagers to never burn. It is one of the more unadorned buildings in the village, although it does boast a carving of a mortar and pestle above its entrance. Nevertheless, the designs inside The Resting House are simple and speak to its purpose, rather than being artistic for the sake of it. You come to The Resting House to recover, not to gaze at pretty carvings.

History

The Resting House (before it was called such) was one of the first buildings to be constructed in the beginning of Sanctuary Village. The people who came together to form the village realized the importance of having a place to heal the sick, and the first apothecary of the village offered to create a hut next to their work for that purpose. Eventually it would eclipse the apothecary and become a landmark of its own.
