Sanctuary Village

Nestled within the Twisting Forest of The Shifting Isle lies a hidden village. And it hides for a good reason. The outside world is not kind to the many peoples who live in Sanctuary Village. Some were born with disfigurements, or acquired them through adventure. Others were born without a hand or leg. Some simply act differently than the average person, whether elf, dwarf, fae or human. Some cannot read or do arithmetic. But all have found a place to call home in Sanctuary Village, a place where they not only feel welcomed, but a place they can thrive as their true selves.

Demographics

Sanctuary Village welcomes people from all races of The Shifting Isles and beyond. Many are human, but there is a sizable population of dwarves, elves, fae and dragonkin who populate the village. There are people of all ages in the village, but it does tend to skew age-wise to middle age and older populations.

Government

Sanctuary Village is run by a council of elected members, from the various peoples that make up the village. They also ensure that the representations of different disabilities are on the council as well.

Infrastructure

To witness the infrastructure of Sanctuary Village is an experience. Newcomers are often amazed by the level of magic and technology that is utilized in the village. Wheeled chairs are common, as are passageways that end in slants. A working magical rail traipses around the village, ensuring villagers only have to walk to their destinations if they want to. Dwarven mages and engineers are often seen working to improve the systems they have built.
