The History of The Sealed Kingdoms so far
The once-mighty star empire in Arctopelago is now crumbling, its people nearly extinct, leaving humans to evolve or die on their various worlds.
Current Species & Cultures
Humans were not the first peoples to be experimented upon by the arrogant Arctopelagans, though their descendants - Lepidosians, feldeans, evermornans, xymerians, and more - are the most widespread by far. The chitiquish are an honest, hive-like crustacean race with four arms and durable carapaces infused with iron. The ashquilish, shell-less relatives of the chitiquish, pick over the remains of the Arcopelagan civilization and offer their services as talented navigators. The four races of the snake-like vbyifabid family-flock, linked through biogenic radio connections into globe-spanning hive minds, seak peace and an expanded knowledge of the cosmos. The floating, methane-breathing, trilaterally-symmetric gant linger at the edges of known space, their motives inscruitable. The t'chirp krothraq, burly and split-armed, wait their turn to join the galactic community. Lastly, the small, crafty, raptor-like emoxi bound from their low gravity world to prize valuable resources from the battlefields of other species.
Needs & Relations
Habitable worlds, caches of useful elements, and pieces of advanced technology - especially of Late Arcopel make - are the major resources that drive most major conflicts in the Sealed Kingdoms region. Ideological differences, including who gets to make vital decisions for a species when the outposts of said species must communicate over the years required for light to travel, can also spur conflict. Achieving these ends might involve diplomacy, trade, or military force, but every sentient species is forced to engage with one another at some level eventually to see their needs fulfilled.
