Grand Harkinite Expedition

Wurth Harkin and a picked cadre of Cobalt Knights, known thereafter as the Harkinites, travel to numerous regions known to house abandoned arcopel research outposts. The goal of this expedition is to find any extant human or near-human populations and, if possible, put them under the protective umbrella of the newly-interstellar Cobalt Protectorate.   Most worlds are found to have once held humaniod populations, but almost all such civilizations are either regressed to pre-sentient states or long-extinct by the time that the Harkinites arrive. This causes Wurth a great deal of heartbreak and sets him on the path to eventually create a way to preserve human sentience against any eventuality. This is the inspiration for the Evermorn Strategic Colony Initiative and, later, Wurth's Matrioshka Brain.
