Medic

Medics are healers who do not use magic. Physicians are highly trained and skilled healers who use magic to diagnose and treat ailments. However, hiring a physician is expensive and many lower class people can't afford magical healing. Instead, they go to medics.
Medics perform simple first aid. They apply sutures, provide herbal teas that lessen pain, treat broken bones with splints and casts, and pull teeth. If actual surgery is needed that can't be cured with a chant, medics are the one to do the work. A physician would not deign to get their hands dirty cutting someone open, but a physician is hopefully there to provide enchanted sleep and healing during and after the surgery.
In most smaller communities, the local medic also has another job that they do for most of the time, and they only perform as a medic when a situation comes up.
The best medics are the ones who exchange information with witches, and they tend to be the most open minded about witches among the populace.
