Forest of the Dead
When a Veiamic person dies, their three souls scatter.
The lua returns to the sea, where it rejoins the ocean of life. It becomes indistinct - just one more drop in the sea. In the future, parts of it will be swept up and be reformed into a new lua by Vatokai, and be born again into a new life.
The tausai dissipates. Its light winks out and it is re-consumed by the forces of nature surrounding all living things.
The panai, the soul that holds a person's conscious mind, is the one most people care about. When it dies, it ascends to the heavens, up to the stars and Iemeina. Behind the stars, it finds its final resting place: the Forest of the Dead.
The Forest of the Dead stretches on endlessly. It is a land of eternal night, where ghosts drift between grey trees. Everything is soft, quiet, and still. It is a lonesome, dreary place where the dead aimlessly drift.
Except, there is a roaring bonfire in the heart of the forest. There, Pamkarun - Grandmother of the Forest - hosts an eternal feast from her cottage. There is warmth and light from her fire and hearty soup from her hearth. Whens he spreads her great leathery wings, she wraps you up on a warm embrace. Grandmother sends out her bat servants to find lost souls, and lead them back to her fire.
Not every ghost in the forest will find their way to her embrace, though. Those who have led wicked lives will be left behind to wallow in darkness. The worse one's behaviour in life, the longer they will have to roam before a guiding bat finds them and leads them to the fire.
