Demographics

The settlement consists of commoners with every few people of note that live here and are often fishermen by trade.

Government

The town is run by an elected mayor by the townspeople to see that their interests are protected.

Defences

Harpoon Launchers: In case of a sea monster attack and the potential damage and destruction of ships the town creates special harpoons that can be fired from a powerful launcher that can pierce the skin of many beasts of the deep. But they are most used to keep them and place and tire them out so they can be easier to kill.

Industry & Trade

The town is mainly a fishing settlement that has a large abundance of all sorts of fish that come from the Great Blue. There are even a few places where stone quarries can be found.

Infrastructure

The town consists of many stone buildings that are well designed to deal with all the problems that come with violent storms.

Assets

The Stone Ways: A series of natural caverns that can be found near the town that allows them to safely reach the bottom of the White Cliffs to allow them to reach their ships.

History

A New Start

Genderly was found a small group of poor farmers that were forced off their land when they could no longer by tribute to their lords and had decided to make a new home near the White Cliffs in the deep south of Ardnaia. However their lack of information of the region would lead to consequences at the very start of their settlements founding. What they did not realize was that the terrain near the cliff where not suited for farming due it being rocky in general. But due to their desperation they could not turn back and started to make their small village and live of the land as best they could. But as month went by their condition did not improve at all and a few perished from their terrible living conditions that they found themselves. What land that could be farmed was far too little to feed everyone and it seemed that all would perish from starvation. Then finally they would encounter one of the infamous storms that came from the Great Blue and it would caused many of their homes to be destroyed by the end of it. All would give up hope and believed that their place would be the end of them until something miraculous would be discovered that would see them live and prosper.
During the storm a boy wondered to far from the village to make it back safely and was left to fend for himself against the elements. As the howling winds threw him around as if he was nothing more than leaf he would be thrown into a hole in the gound where he would find safety form the storm. But he would soon learn that the hole was of far greater signicanece than he first though as it connected to a series of tunnels that lead directly to the sea and would head back to what was left of the village to tell them what he had discovered and with this information these struggling farmers would soon replace their plows for fishing nets as they would live off the sea rather than the land. Where they would feast on it bound when the soil could not forevermore. In time they would learn to master the arts of fishing and build boat to catch more fish than ever before. They would call these tunnels Stone Ways and this path would become see their village grow into a decent town.

The Rest on the Edge of the World

Before Genderly was founded their was no place for ship to dock to and from traveling to the Eastern lands leaving many ship to travel months without being able to land for a short rest. But when the Stone Ways were discovered the native of Genderly were able to create a elberate system to allow them to go and up the tunnels made into the cliffs much easier than before. They would create a dock year at the bottom of the cliff and build it into the cliffside to store ships safely away from the dangerous water near them. Allowing many ships to passing by to do the safe and stay at Genderly until they were rested. This greatly allowed the town to gain a better income by allowing these sailors to spend their money in town and in time they would use their money to grown and create decent town made of stone to better protect themselves from the elements. Along with adding a few inns and taverns for travelers to rest theri weary bones and fill their empty bellies. Along with selling their fish cusines to anyone will to trade for them or simply just eat. Due to the town main being a fishing settlement and being soon near the Great Blue they have access to more types of exotic fish that some of them are often worth a shiny coin as well. Along with some well made dishes that you can only find in a few place that actually make them.

Tourism

It is often used as midpoint for ship that are coming and going from and too the Eastern Lands. Often having ships use it as a rest stop before going back on their travels to their destinations.

Architecture

Though originally made of wood many of the buildings are made of stone now due to the violent storms that tend to hit the town from the Great Blue and are designed to withstand the strong winds that can tear apart wooden buildings with ease.

Geography

The town was built near the White Cliffs that border the Great Blue was nothing but the endless sea as far as their eyes are able to perceive.

Natural Resources

The town's only two resources that a readily available are stone and fish that come in large abundances.

Fishing Experts

Due to Genderly's dependency on fish, they have learned everything they could about how to catch fish, making it an obsession to them. Their experience has allowed them to be more skilled with dealing with species of fish that are native to the Great Blue. Even at times coming face to face with sea monsters as well, only to uses specially designed equipment to face these beasts and even catch them if they can to make in a succulent meal to anyone who can afford the meat. This has also allowed them to have a better income than most other fishing settlements a well as the meats they can get a hold of are hard to get in other parts of the world with many paying a good price for them when they can afford it.

Succulent Dishes

Considering the number of fish that are hard to come by in other waters, the residents of the town have learned to create a few dishes just for them. Allowing for more popularity to come them because of this as their resident are often experts in how to cook the types of fish native to their home. Making some of those who have money to spend to hire them and make the dishes for them to eat. Allowing for more money comes to the town and makes these cooks have a larger income than their status can receive.
