Dancer Fighting Styles

Everything we use is an extension of ourselves, just like when we are fighting. It is the most natural thing for us. - Dancer
The term Dancing has a different meeting on the Dark Continent as those with this title are considered warriors of excellent reputation. Those who use these techniques are called War Dancers or Dancers. These warriors are fierce across the land as many of them as a single one is worth more than a dozen men making them feared and respected for their skill in battle. Many seek their training to serve in their forces to strengthen their numbers. But will never join those seeking conquest as they have sworn to protect the people.

History

Sacred Origins

It has been told by every story keeper that has ever lived of the tale of a sacred band of warriors known as Judu'hura or Sacred Masters that founded the fighting techniques of the Dancers. Its six members found their fighting techniques. Their tale is told in the Hunini Sharna Kun, the Journey of the Six. It speaks of a time when feared warlords ruled the land and brought endless war and death as the people suffered their rule. It was even said that these warlords made pacts with Jucturikana, evil spirits that feed upon pain and granted those who gave them what they wanted power beyond imagining. During this time, Avanali, a young woman, sought to end the suffering of her people and rid the land of the warlords that plagued it. From here, she traveled the land and fought many foes and slowly gained the six that would be her comrades to defeat the warlords from tribes across the land. In their journies together, they found to create their fighting styles to fight their foes, for they were only a few against many. With their unity and skill, they defeated the warlords and freed the tribes from their tyranny. They would each pass down their techniques to their students in the hopes that the peace they created would be maintained long after they were gone as many would rise to strike against those who would prey upon the weak. It was from here that these techniques would be spread across the continent.

Way of the Protector

The fighting styles of the dancers are considered sacred art from generation to generation. Often being a means of self Defense to protect one’s self and others from danger. It is a teaching that is never used to harm others of purpose or conquer one’s enemies. Teachers of the styles are very selective of who they choose to train in their form as they do not wish for it to be used for dark purposes. Along with wish testing to see if the style is the right type for them to train in. Here, those who train in the art will become closer to the animal that it was based on. Allowing them to better use it when the time comes to fight and defeat them. But it should never be used unless necessary, as to use it without provocation is a breach of founding values of styles that were formed in the first place. Nor for entertainment as well for when it is used it is meant for combat.

Wandering Fighters

Those who become dancers often wander the land to protect the weak and defenseless. They have no allegiances or connections to ensure that they are removed from attachment to a certain place. It is from here that those who take up the mantle often travel where they can and fight those that take advantage of the people around them. It is from here that they lead modest lives working where they can and those who are willing to shelter them to survive. There have been many tales of Dancers who have faced down tyrants and invaders as their skills prove capable fighters that any foe should be cautious about facing. Often take up students from those willing to learn from them and take up their sacred duty. As passing down the styles is no easy task, the Dancer must be sure that the individual in question does not seek to use it for their gains. Often observing them from afar or setting up a trail to show their true character as a person when revealing their true nature when no one is around. Once a candidate or candidates have been chosen, they will often travel with the Dancer and learn the proper way to use the style and the values they hold dear. It is from here they know with experience from the world around them. Along with gaining new knowledge of what to expect and how to survive when traveling out into the world. There are only two ways that a Dancer will stop traveling if they are dead, too old, or injured to keep up. Those that live on try to train as many people as they can in their style to ensure that a new generation can carry on the sacred duty they hold dear.
