Planes of Existence

Collectively known as “The Nine Realms” or just “The Multiverse,” the planes of existence can roughly be divided into three categories: the Upper Realms, which are the planes of law and goodness; the Mortal Realms, which consists of the physical world and the planes that directly border it; and the Lower Realms, which are the planes of chaos and evil. Beyond every one of these self-contained worlds exists a realm of infinite planar energy known as the Astral Sea, and drifting through this sea of cosmic light, one can also find the dominions of the gods, which serve as the afterlives of those who worshipped the resident deity in life. And finally, filling the space between all nine planes of existence, there exists the Gap: an ethereal void where many non-undead spirits make their home, which only came into being after the destruction of the World Tree during the Syzygy.
