Personal Projects

Although M "Blue" Heimburg spends most of their time working or playing RPGs, they also have a number of creative projects they've found time to work on. True to their multi-class nature, these projects are of various creative media (and true to their chaotic creative nature, most of them are works in progress). The following are just a small sample of their many recent and ongoing personal projects.

World Anvil Worlds

Naiko

Naiko is a fantasy world created by Blue, their silbing, and their cousin during their early childhood. After recently rediscovering their archived artwork, writing, and more from their early years, Blue has been working to compile it all into a World Anvil world to archive and memorialize their earliest fantasy creation. It's not well-written, well-illustrated, or well-thought out, but it is well-loved!

Roleplaying

Giant Island (WIP)

Giant Island is an original tabletop game created by Blue that blurs the line between a traditional board game and a roleplaying game, and includes game items designed by Blue.

Untitled Original TTRPG System (WIP)

In the search for just the right TTRPG system, Blue decided to take things into their own hands and create their own original system.   This yet-unnamed system is designed to be mechanically simple with a heavy emphasis on storytelling, set in a world where kids get to explore a hidden fantasy world full of charming creatures and whimsical enchanted items, following in the footsteps of classic children's fantasy books.   While this system is still a work in progress, they're planning for the first trial run to happen before the end of the year.

Creative Writing

August and Leonia (WIP)

August and Leonia is one of Blue's longest works-in-progress (both by the length of the project and the several years Blue has spent on it).   The short novel is a story of two best friends who find themselves coping with loss in a very unusual way when one of them dies — but still shows up to school the next morning. It's a story about grief, growing up, and moving on.   August and Leonia has been in the works since 2017, and is near and dear enough to Blue's heart that it may never see the light of day unless a miracle of perfectionism occurs.

Graphic Design

Owl City album redesigns

One of Blue's most recent passion projects, fueled by nostalgia for the band Owl City, was redesigning the album covers for every album and EP released by Owl City to create a set of new, stylistically coherent album covers.
