The Yugernauchs

The Yugernauchs are a tribe of goblinoids from a now wasteland of a continental leaf after a massive Eternal Empire continent cracking project stripped the leaf of resources and crushed the leaf into biofuel to power their empire. But the yugernauchs, unlike many other tribes upon that doomed leaf, did not resist. They held little attachment to the land as long as they could take the ashes and bones of their ancestors with them. So, rather than perish, they joined the Eternal Empire's Fourth Fleet. They became a renowned military asset, their fame coming from their paladins who harnessed the power of their ancestors.   But not everything is well between the yugernauchs and the Eternal Empire. The tribe never fully integrated into Eternal culture and society in any significant way. They shunned technology and A.I. assistance. Their victories in combat despite this embarrassed many of the diehard cybercrats, creating some domestic tension. A second thing was the failure of Menthal. Most of the yugernauchs eligible fighting force served on the thirteenth division, and with its utter destruction, the yugernauchs were much weakened. They carry a great shame for this defeat, for they lost not only their kin but many of their prized reliquaries carrying the remains of their ancestors too. While their is still a connection to their past, there is an unnerving quietness in their connection. Other Eternals do not understand this injury, which creates another disconnect between the two communities. The few survivors moved to the Ram division.   The only Yugernauch to survive the battle which led to the defeat of the Thirteenth Division was one Commander Lug. But he, like the other few survivors of that battle, kept the details of that loss to himself. The fleet punished this silence by benching the Yugernauchs from the frontline. Thus, much of the Yugernauchs returned to the Lesvetter and remained there. Only the paladin Urg ever saw combat in the invasion of the Veritian Leaf, and he only got a spot on a drop pod into the Cosmic Observatory because of a clerical error said he was but a medic. This clerical error was caused by the Softskin Syndicate trying to get the Yugernauchs reinstated.   These efforts would bare consequences none could predict, leading to great turmoil within the fleet and the death of the Yugernauch tribe. Urg would set free an angel of Truth, starting a truth epidemic within the Lesvetter which led to the Winter Contingency that destroyed the clan. Urg would be the only survivor, as he was at Capital, the Stallion division's mothership, destroying their A.I. Some may claim that Urg carried the vengeance of his ancestors within him, bringing death to the machine that destroyed their home. The price for this vengeance was the rest of his clan.
