Larkin

Larkin was the creation of Brady Kopsala.   Before the Dormant cults reign in Evermore, Larkin was an alchemist who specialized in the manipulation of genes to cure rare diseases. However when the Dormant took over, their influence took hold of Larkin’s ideals. He was tricked into believing that the Dormant needed fighters, and that an alchemist would be useless. Having no fighting ability, Larkin used his ability as an alchemist and began to plan out body enhancements and mutations to improve his combat prowess. Larkin was no fool though, and he knew that if he began these experiments on himself, he would likely die from the side effects. Instead, he began experimenting on others who wished to become strong for the dormant. He ended up subjecting the population of Evermore to chemical experimentation for the sake of the Dormant, which resulted in the death of many people that he once lived alongside. Eventually the experiments began to show results and the process was refined enough that he began the mutations on himself, transforming himself into chemically enhanced soldier for the Dormant Cult. Thus, Larkin's own brand of chemical Blood Hunter was born.   Larkin did not know how much his actions were influenced by the insidious poison of the Dormant, so when the control was broken and Larkin's wits were returned to him, he realized his heinous crimes. He wanted to remove the poison in his veins from that point on, but to do so would make him powerless to save his people. To repay for his crimes, crimes of which not many other than him knew about as Dormant intelligence (the Clot) kept his research secret, he returned to Evermore and fought to free it from both the Dormant and Tumult. His actions were instrumental in freeing the Evermore Hamlet district from a powerful hag, as well as he gave the finishing blow against the Dormant general Tash.   He was praised as a hero and subsequently elected as a representative of Evermore when emissaries from Tumult and the Sovereign Peoples of Neih (SPN) came to negotiate with Evermore. While neither group had Evermore's complete interest in mind, they decided to side with the SPN for now, as they were too weak to try for independence at this juncture.
After the Dormant's defeat, Larkin sought to cleanse himself of the poison he created, doing much damage to his physical state but ultimately succeeding. He would spend the next ten years hunting down any knowledge of the dread art he created and destroying it so that it would not fall into the wrong hands.
But the decade of conflict with Tumult convinced him to take the poison once more and fight with the SPN against the lich's forces. He fought Bedrich himself at the final battle in the fields of Tel'ul. He nearly fell in that battle, as he died while the heroes of the SPN fought each other due to the Lantern of Sorrow's influence. Luckily, he had a ring of power called the Ring of Sacrifice, which brought Larkin back to life free from the Lantern's influence. He attempted to smash the lantern, which stopped the other heroes from killing each other as they focused their ire on Larkin. This momentary lapse in the battle royal was enough to save the heroes from the Lantern which took a hold of the once good man Bedrich, as Jack Frost arrived with his anti-Spring weapon and destroyed the Lantern.
With the battle over, Larkin returned to Evermore and started a hospital. While working as a doctor, he made an order studying the art of blood hunters. He did so for two reasons. One, his ability was in high demand by the halflings of Evermore who were less inclined towards Summer worship. They wanted to diversify Evermore's fighting force, as the paladin order was not enough to repel the Dormant. The second reason was that Larkin got sick. He hoped in studying the art he created, refining it and understanding it, he could save his own life. While this was not successful, perhaps it kept future generations of blood hunters. He died midway through adulthood at the age of 79.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Near the end of his life, Larkin was the personal caretaker of Lady Mirabel who was suffering from delusions and memory loss in her old age. He would frequently visit her at her villa by the Ulian sea. He determined there was a residual necrotic curse upon her draining at her soul, luring her to cross over to Hah. To redirect this curse, Larkin gave him a ring which held a soul. This ring (holding the soul of one Tarkin Darkfoot) attempts to takeover its bearer, but in doing so took the brunt of the soul curse. Thus, Larkin killed two birds with one stone, helping Mirabel's illness and punishing the traitor Tarkin.
