Personal history

Tremmew was in his family's business of chartering boats for local excursions when Salibret Varenago put out a call for boats and pilots to carry out humanitarian missions.  He joined immediately, proved himself a valuable pilot, and was soon one of those responsible for planning missions.  He oversaw the deployment of rescue crews in the aftermath of the 2018 Vol explosion of Shappal.  Salibret was impressed with his performance, and began consulting with him on plans for larger-scale operations.

He was startled when she asked for a child with his fleshline, but agreed to help.  After the birth of their daughter, she drew up inheritance documents declaring him caretaker of Alcendis and the Varen estate if Salibret died before her daughter came of age.  As her health declined, she invoked the documents early.  Tremmew easily stepped into command of the fleet and also showed himself an able administrator of the estate before Salibret died in 2025 Vol.

Education

Tremmew had the basic childhood education before joining the family's chartering business.  When he learned that Salibret intended him to put him in charge of the fleet and estate, he took courses in financial management and social organization.

Employment

He was a boat pilot when he started working with Salibret's humanitarian crisis fleet.  As the fleet increased in size, she appointed him as a mission director.

Mental Trauma

Tremmew considered the birth of his and Salibret's daughter to be the most terrifying experience of his life. After a history of miscarriages, Salibret was less than a month from full term when she went into premature labor and began shaking uncontrollably.  They immediately took a high-speed conduit boat to Galtern to get to an infant hospital. There, doctors identified the signs of neonatal collapse, a condition so rare there had been only fifteen previously recorded cases in the entire Volcanic Era.

The baby was surgically removed and taken immediately to an infant crisis room, where Tremmew watched them struggle to stabilize her. A last-ditch application of powdered keetwood halted the collapse, and within an hour Tremmew was able to report to Salibret that their daughter Alcendis would survive.

Hobbies & Pets

Ever since childhood, Tremmew has always had at least one duck as a pet.  His practiced art is creating small figures made of wrapped cloth and decorated with dyed feathers, which he gives away to people he meets on missions.

Although he was not himself of an esteemed family, Tremmew's position as chief officer of Salibret's fleet and steward of her estate on behalf of her daughter entitled him to the equivalent rank and respect.
