Lysiddea (a.k.a. Siddie)

Lysiddea is one of the new Eddy's first class of protos.  She is an itinerant Water Seeker.

Physical Description

Special abilities

The openness of Lysiddea's aura makes her far more sensitive to strong emotions than other Water Seekers. She is able to identify directions of greatest need and follow them. Her moods are literally infectious: her uncontained aura often interacts with people who pass within arm's length of her.

Personal history

Lysiddea lived in a lumber mining camp on Aktergea until a teenager. Her family evacuated the island after the Unity established a presence there. After a short time as a refugee on Mraydor, she joined her mother's cousin Arvahll on his boat, the Melandine, as an apprentice navigator. A chance encounter with Alcendis Varen led her to Eddy's Island, after which she and Gorles partnered both personally and in business. As an active Water Seeker with a tendency to seek out situations that need resolution, Lysiddea does not lead an especially peaceful life. She and Gorles have two children, Adji and Valary.

Education

As a logging camp laborer, Lysiddea received very little education. She had a brief taste of formal schooling when her family relocated to Mraydor, but stopped attendance due to social stigma. Arvahll trained her in navigation and provided her the foundational skills necessary to run a shipping business. She developed her water manipulation skills under Dancinglight Varen at the Eddy. Despite a lack of classroom study, Lysiddea is far from ignorant--her interest in listening to people's stories has given her a breadth of knowledge few others share.

Employment

Lysiddea operates a small cargo hauler, assisted by her husband.

Mental Trauma

As a child, Lysiddea suffered from two separate ailments that caused frequent bouts of vertigo, leading to unpredictable falling episodes. Although both conditions have long been identified and treated, for the rest of her life Lysiddea has a terror of unsupported heights.

Lysiddea is partnered long-term with Gorles.  Due to her peripatetic lifestyle, she has infrequent contact with any other members of her family.

Mannerisms

As a response to the way she was treated as a refugee, Lysiddea speaks to everyone she meets as if they are someone of importance.

Hobbies & Pets

Lysiddea maintains a seabird refuge on the Seekers at Sea, as most other freesailing vessels have. She does not have personal attachments to any particular birds; rather, she observes their flight paths to help guide the ship.
As a child, Lysiddea learned a style of loomless weaving, which she continues to use to make shoulder sacks.

Speech

Lysiddea's accent is unique.  She adopted Mraydor affectations to cover her lumber camp dialect, and has also been strongly influenced by both Zaiyevi and Ralcondray speech.
