Southern Downs
Located in the Southwestern portion of Midlandia, the Southern Downs is an area rich in resources and natural farmlands. Although it wasn't settled until later in The Great Exodus, it quickly became a magnet for all who work the land. Cities quickly sprang up along the coastal areas. Once it was determined that no threats presented themselves, families began to push further inland to lay claim to land they could work. Settlements and later towns were founded at key river crossings allowing for more services to be established. Now there are dozens of towns some quite large with many cottage industries to help support the growing economy in this region.
With the rapid growth, brought increased wealth. The coastal cities quickly became wealthy and traders began to setup show in order to take advantage of the situation be bringing in resources and luxuries from other ares in New Haven. Today, the main realms of power are found in this region. They see themselves as the hub of all New Haven.
Geography
Known for its rich farmland and rolling hills, the Southern Downs is the most fertile area of all Midlandia. It consists mainly of plains and rolling hills, but also includes the foothills of the Perilous Divide.
Fauna & Flora
The area is well suited not only for grains and pasture land, but various fruit and nut trees.
Natural Resources
Woods can be found scattered and are most prominent along the foothills and further away from the city centers. Small dense forests can be found. The foothills are well suited for both quarrying and mining. With the network of rivers, it is easy to transport large quantities of stone and ore from the foothills to the various city centers for refining
