Othala Village

This settlement is named for the Othala rune, which in turn represents heritage, home, family, returning to roots, and other similar themes. It was from this settlement, that all the other tribes split off and settled their own towns. Many Othala tribes people bear direct lineages to the survivor's of Ragnorok who left the safe haven in Heimdall's fortress and began to rebuild their society here. Today, the tribe is a flourishing settlement bustling with activity. It is the main hub for ground and sea traders going to and from other tribes, as well as having the most modern furnishings of all the tribes. The tribe is governed by a council of 5 community chosen matriarchs who are responsible for stewarding the tribe's resources and safety. Upon landing at Voyager's Keep, Rothar will encourage players to go and visit the matriarch's at the Great Hall while he attempts to procure lodging and survey what shops and services are in the town. Players will have to ask around and investigate to find the matriarchs and determine their next steps. Matriarch Tierza Quillclan is the most likely to have the information they need. Rothar will avoid socializing with the upper members of the Othala Tribe for fear of his exile becoming a stumbling block. Players may choose to go with Rothar to find lodging or not. From this point forward, players will have a lot of freedom to decide what they do and in what order.

Flash Point 1 - Main Quest

The first order of business for continuing the main quest will be to find a matriarch to talk to about Heimdall's fortress. The difficulty will be in receiving help as players are not only strangers in town, but also may have wildly different appearances than the Remnant Aesir. The Othala tribe can be suspicious of anything relating to their past and mythology, much of which is based on real people and cultures the Old Aesir interacted with. Players may have to take extra measures to avoid attracting the wrong kind of attention. The GM may use this tension as a plot point to lead into the other available side quests which may help the players build rapport with members of the community. The primary ones the players will have to connect with or avoid attracting attention from are the matriarchs.   Before going to Heimdall's Fortress, players will need to meet one of the matriarchs, preferably Tierza Quillclan. The other matriarch's can also help guide the players to Tierza. She resides a the Great Hall in the center of town. She can also be found at the Archivist's Hall nearby. If players are able to present the matriarch with the bridge keystone they found in the troll's lair, Tierza will be ecstatic to have it returned and be very inclined to help the players. The keystone doubles as a time capsule, which contains important lineage documents that are helpful to Tierza's passion of documenting and tracing out family lineages back to the original survivor's of Ragnorok. The keystone went missing after a band of troll's collapsed the bridge the Othala originally built to cross the southern passage. It also contains a few relics from Tierza's own family, one of which is Lif's Key. This key is a required item to enter the fortress. Tierza will not have any information of what's inside the fortress as no one has entered it in 1500 years. She will be able to inform them there is a second lock on the door that the Remnant Aesir have never been able to bypass. She will however be willing to give directions to the fortress, as well as provide any neccessary resources or connections to help the players accomplish their mission. She is also very well informed on the happenings in town and is able to answer questions and direct players anywhere they may wish to go in the Othala Tribe.   As an optional side quest, the GM may have Tierza request that the players find and bring back any secrets or knowledge they may find in Heimdall's fortress. Any insight they can bring back is worth a monetary reward but she will pay top dollar if the player's are able to retrieve a complete list of the survivor's of Ragnorok. Tierza is very interested in tracing the lineages of her ancestors.   Fetch Quest Rewards:   d Full List of Ragnorok Survivors: 50 gems   d Any other historical documents, relics, knowledge, etc: 5-10 gems dependent on quality and interest.

Flash Point 2 - Procure Lodging

Another option the player's have is to enter town and find an Inn to stay at. They will have to travel through Voyager's Keep and Merchant's Row to get to one. There are two inn's in the village, the Journeyman's Lounge and the Traveler's Nook. Players will naturally come across Journeyman's Lounge first. Staying at either inn opens up the possibility for the Tavern Fued Side Quest.   If Rothar procures lodging on his own, he will meet the players at Lif's Memorial and inform them of the two taverns. Journeyman's Lounge is much more expensive, but has nicer accomadations and a place to stable their Hauler's Hog. It's also closer to the merchants row and the center of town. Nobility and merchants frequent it and it may provide connections to the matriarchs. Traveler's Nook has more agreeable pricing, but they will have to travel to the Beastmaster's Keep to find a place to stable their Hauler's Hog. It serves as a better place to lay low and unnoticed, but is not as comfortable.

Flashpoint 3 - Quest Board

At any point while wandering through town, players may come across a public announcement board with advertising for various side quests throughout the village.
