The World's War Against Blackbeard

For 5 years after Blackbeard reached the known peak of his power, the entire New World joined together to bring him down in a war that would dismantle the balance of power and reset it to the way it is today.

The Conflict

Prelude

Blackbeard was already a well-feared renegade Pirate Titan of his era, and figures like The World Authority, many independent religious groups/cults, and other Pirate Titans were individually looking to bring him down. He had no allies except two others among his crew.

The true turning point began when he acquired the book of vile darkness and gained the power of Abyssal Darkness alongside his Hellfire. His true warpath began, leaving a wake of destruction unseen since the divine war, threatening to grow even stronger and leave every outside force at his mercy. His sheer evil nature against the entire world magnified by his demigod like power was a rude awakening toward the entire New World that their own individual affairs were insignificant compared to the pirate devil arising.

The Engagement

As a unified front, The New World would frequently intercept Blackbeard in navel combat and attempt to surround him in whatever island he was laying siege on, with an entire fleet against this individual leading to a one-sided defeat with Blackbeard as the victor.

Blackbeard never pursued anyone, per see, he simply went in whatever direction he fancied and killed whatever stood in front of him; finding a pleasurable surprise in combatants who stood a moment longer than others. As more fleets fell before him, his necromancer allied made sure their death converted them into a fleet of his own, building in military power after each victory

Battle of Damned Island, Execution of Blackbeard

Preparation:

After months of strained meetings and strategies between groups that would kill each other on any other day; they rallied their greatest forces for a final battle in what was once known as Daniel Island, a land littered with steep hills and rock formations uninhabited by any kind of life, and most importantly surrounded by a jagged stone reef leaving a ship unable to dock. When this battle would end, its name would be forgotten and only be known now as Damned Island, a barren crater of dust and ash.

20 champions now seen as the peak of their era of The New World stood together to directly face Blackbeard, and each of them stand as legendary figures of great admiration among their respective groups. These figures were-

The gathering of Vestiges and the first Sacred/Magus Ships

Even banded together in this way, they knew all that they were unequipped to face Blackbeard as they were. Thus they all went their ways to arm themselves, some sought arcane items developed by the peak mages of their era while others sought ancient magic from the Divine War, though Teiva still ensured The truly forbidden weapons were untouched. Some were led by a diety or higher power to either find or create Vestiges of Divergence, incredibly holy or unholy tools of war blessed by gods during the divine war. These vestiges were practically forgotten, but this war was what caused them to resurface into the New World.

Ahab was the first to create Sacred Ships with The Mad-Ahab , and The Holy Temples among other religious groups were shocked by the sheer madness/genius of building a ship around a sacred relic, and many clerics as well as mighty shipwrights followed suit, creating sacred ships for every champion with a deity behind them and several more. This inspired mages to create arcana ships of equal caliber of the divine ships, and in competition used whatever ancient arcana they could manage to get to develop Magus Ships dedicated to housing these ancient weapons.

The Final Battle Begins

With these legendary items, The New World's plan was devoted to leaving Blackbeard Separated from his fleet as well as his two other crew-mates,; with Iggwilv left to be attacked by anti-magic and martial fighters (predominantly the Hands of the Witch and The Shield Pride), the Kraken to be attacked by the fleet of legendary/Divine ships.

Blackbeard appears and The World Strikes

When Blackbeard saw what looked like a settlement on Daniel Island, he decided to go there with Iggwilv, knowing his ship nor his fleet could reach it to take whatever valuables could be gained. Upon teleporting to the island, he immediately realized she did not follow and that he was being forced/weakened within the island thanks to Jesper's hallow and that this settlement was an impeccable illuson made by Jester.

As the illusion faded; Magnhild, Gore, Jester, Jasper, and Caleb were revealed and immediately went to attack. As the others began to fight, Caleb would release concentration on an immense spell of his making, immediately summoning the fleet of Divine/Magus ships out of thin air full of worthy sailors and anti-mage warriors dedicated to Iggwilv and the Kraken. Once the message was sent that the main forces were unveiled, a gargantuan fleet of standard navy and pirate ships from every direction approached to face the undead fleet.

The Storm Queen and The Morning Father Shatters the Sky

Gore was slain first, with Magnhild following behind, and before Blackbeard could manage a killing blow on Jesper; The clear sky bearing an domineering sun was immediately drowned out by the wrath of storms and the winds of a violent hurricane as Ahab appeared from thin air to strike Blackbeard with a bolt of lightning.

Along with him was Raphael, Rodger, Dracule, Ryu, Jalvanloss, Nydra, and Akira who was hidden in another layer illusion magic of Jester's. As The Zealot of Disaster revitalized the Champion of Yathander, the god of the sun nor the goddess of disaster would allow either domains be weakened by the other. So in a fashion only the most powerful of the gods could manage, The sun with its majestic rays of light powered through the stormy sky devoured by natural disaster; showing a wild spectacle of sun and storm, light and lighting that seemed as though the sky was shattering like glass.

Iggwilv is Magically Crippled

On the Navel front, Iggwilv stands her ground but is held back by The Sun Pride Warriors constantly assaulting her and The Hands of The Witch who assault her just as fervently with their mastery over counter-magics. Before she could manage to cast a any major spell, a Hand of Witch struck her with a mysterious ancient magical item, leaving her horrifically scared and her arcane abilities fractured beyond normal use. In a state of overwhelming fear from the inexplainable loss of her wizardry, she mustered all her strength to teleport away and escape. Though the undead army still stood, they were without direction.

During this time, Ryu, Caleb, and Nydra are slain.

The Pride of Shields saves The Blade-Sage

Though many of the revealed champions naturally opposed Blackbeard in some way, The Blade Sage was one of the biggest counters against him with her understanding of hellish/Abyssal magic and the practical countermeasures only a The Goddess of Forbidden Magic could provide. Biding for the opportune moment to kill her, he catches her caught by Abyssal Gravity but before his sword of fire and shadow could pierce her, Raphael lunged in front of her, completely taking the blow to save her. Before Blackbeard could reach her again, the rest of the champions decide to reveal themselves and strike him with full force.

Many historians knowing the written history between Leandros and The Witch assumed Raphael did such because it was the most strategic thing in the fight against Blackbeard, those who knew Raphael and the nature of Leandros would know its was in both their nature to save anyone that way out of kindness, but the true reason for it was even deeper than that. Among the entire Pantheon, none of them see The Witch kindly due to the curse of her domain of distrust. What Raphael did was a message he willingly sent from Leandros directly to the Witch, him simply letting her know that despite who/what she is, that he still loves her and will protect her. The Blade-sage herself was overwhelmed with emotion, feeling truly cared about for the first time in her life as an individual and mournful that the person who cared for her in that way was taken in an instant.

The Kraken is slain and Malice makes it's move

Through the combined efforts of the Divine/Magus ships, the Kraken was successfully surrounded and eventually slain in a battle of attrition, leaving them to clear out the undead ships that still remained. The only god to not contribute in this battle was so far was Malice, but it appeared in a plan of its own, was waiting for the kraken to be slain as its lifeless body began to swell horrifically and be launched onto the island. Catching everyone by surprise the mass of pulsating flesh would turn a black ichor and burst into a Tarrasque with its eyes hellbent on Blackbeard.

Though Jester would cheerfully celebrate the monster's arrival as an ally, she would supposedly be eaten by the titan. In actuality, being led by Elistreaee, Jester knew with all the champions unveiled that her abilities were not needed anymore and that she'd only be a hinderance for the kinder champions who would recklessly hurt themselves to save her. So her last act of kindness before she left was to let the champions know that the Tarrasque was not an ally. Upon recognizing who made this abomination, Blackbeard turned just as hellbent as he grew furious that a freak god like that would dare take advantage of what was his. For the first and last time in this battle, the narcissistic and sadistic smile on Blackbeard's face was gone until the Terrasque was rendered to ash and devoured by darkness.

Due to Blackbeard as well as the abomination; Porthos, Dio, Ereshkargel, and Javanaloss were slain.

Both sides pushed to their limit

Once the Terrasque was put down, All who remained of the 20 so far was Ahab, Jesper, Akira, Dracule, The Blade-Sage, Maugrysear, Shaka, and Scatlan who were all gravely injured. And especially after taking the most direct force against the abomination, Blackbeard himself was the most hurt he's ever been since reaching his peak. Pushed to his limit, he decided to unveil the book of vile deeds from his beard and use its full power in the open, striking all 8 of the already weakened champions further into dread. Though waining in number and vitality, they all rose to oppose him still, held conscious only by their fury, resolve, and dreams of the future. Both Blackbeard and The New World was rendered to their barest form, yet none of them as true Titans of their era feared death for even a moment.

The deciding moments

Shaka is the first to die in what is the final moments of this battle. As a Arch-Magus of time, he was the most aloof of everyone; but his actions before his death made no sense even for him; moving getting in the way of the others, getting in melee range as a wizard, and even attempting to cast a cleric spell. What the champions would realize was that every action he took up to his death was to precisely position them and Blackbeard perfectly in physical place, mind, and probably even spirit to defeat him.

Immediately after Shaka's death, Maugrysear blanketed the battlefield in fire, obscuring Blackbeard's view just enough for the champions to strategically move toward them. After magically pulling the dragon to the ground, appearing in his field of view first was Ahab and Scatlan to his left. Unleashing a devastating beam of unfiltered darkness, Scatlan put his faith in the Zealot of Disaster in front of him and gave Ahab the inspiration needed to avoid death, while the honorable bard was completely eradicated. Then as someone appeared to Blackbeard's left, he hurled a ferocious ball of hellfire but was unlucky enough for only Akira to be there, a champion who is immune to fire of all kinds. As Akira then assaulted him with a volley of primordial scorching rays, The Blade Sage approached from behind and striked him methodically to ensure he didn't have the opportunity to use another devastating spell from his book, and Dracule followed up right in front of him with devastating blow with the belt of storm giant's strength and Ryu's vestige, Shushi, he picked up from his corpse.

Sick of the bombardment, Blackbeard drops an inverted black vortex at his feat, shunting everything near him at an alarming speed. What only could have been from the combination of divine intervention, the unfathomable insight of Shaka, and sheer luck, Jesper happened to position himself in-between Blackbeard and the now floating book the moment the vortex was dropped; using the momentum of Blackbeard's own power to rip the book from its fixed position in air.

Blackbeard is Beheaded

Realizing what had happened, Blackbeard with an unyielding rage attempted to get the book back but was held by the other champions. The Blade-Sage would not allow any magic to let him get closer in any capacity, Dracule would restrain him via massive adamantine chain weapon, Akira neutralizing his hellfire with his primordial flames, and Ahab right in between him and Jesper. In his bloodlust, Blackbeard managed to free his hand of the chain and impale the zealot with his summoned blade, but was left in utter shock when Ahab, drunk in divine rage, pulled himself deeper into his sword to firmly choke the devil with both hands.

The book of vile darkness is a tome that was meant to kill and dissolve any good it contacts, so though touching the book alone fated Jesper to death, his sheer goodness and radiance from deep within him along with the power granted by Yathander was so great upon facing this collection of evil that his soul equaled to that of a solar's. In that instance Jasper was able to tear apart the book with his bare hands, sundering half of Blackbeard's power in an instant and loosing his life. Before The Vile Commodore could finish whatever curse he would spit in retaliation, his head would be pushed back as Ahab with his dying breath would call upon Teiva for divine intervention to have the honor of witnessing this mortal-made-devil be smite alongside him in a magnitude that would rattle the world. As if nature itself was yearning for this moment, the dark clouds spread across the sky began to coalesce into a single spiraling point.

Barely in time for the remaining champions to avoid the aftermath, A incredibly thin bolt of lighting flashes for a fraction of an instant, cleanly Beheading Blackbeard before an ear shattering boom echoed loud enough for all The New World to hear. The ground of Damned Island quaked and exploded with the force of a volcano and the plume of ash and dust that towered the sky was like gruesome flag of victory for those who survived that day. Though the cost was heavy, the execution of a single man would shape the future of The New World in the greatest and most chaotic way possible, undoubtedly for the better.

The New World

Strength

Even though they only consisted of three individuals, they were the most powerful force in the New World in their era. Blackbeard's power alone was enough to become the opposition they stood as, but with, Iggwilv, an incredible necromancer building a massive undead pirate fleet, and an oathbreaker turned Kraken; it required the entire world to defeat these three.

It is safe to say the entire New World banded together to kill this one man. Every Major Power that could've been imagined worked in tandem to contribute in fighting Blackbeard in some way. Pirates,The Navy, Clerics, Cultists, Mages, and Warriors of any and every type intersected to create a force of sheer size deemed impossible by the nature of mortal conflict and division. In any other circumstance, most would jump the gun to kill each other on sight.

Casualties

Igglwiv was left magically crippled and disappeared, The terrasque was slain by the fleet of legendary/Divine ships, and Blackbeard was killed and rendered to a fragment of an abyssal spirit.
The best the world had to offer was thrown at Blackbeard, and most of them were lost that day. Their deaths would leave immense power vacuums and cause further chaos even after Blackbeards death but lead to the current power balance seen today.   Among the 20, only 5 survived
  • Akira Tate
  • Jester (thought dead)
  • Dracule
  • Maugrysear
  • The Nameless Blade-Sage
  • Objectives

Blackbeard merely wanted to crush anyone who would even imagine opposing him and delighting in killing such people, he'd gladly invite a challenge from anyone at any time or situation. If he were to win the final battle, he would stand on top of the world without a doubt for the rest of history.
