Maughrysear is an Ancient Red Dragon who is a Pirate Titan of the east and captain of the Chroma Pirates. He is the only known chromatic dragon to have an official pirate crew as well as the only one in known history to have any command over other dragons. He was among 5 of the 20 champions to fight and survive The World's War Against Blackbeard.

His goal is to complete his hoard, which is not just some gleaming gold or treasure but the greatest trophy of wealth, fame, and power in the new world; every Island in The New World, and the right to name it after himself.

Maughryrsear was not only among the 20 champions to oppose Blackbeard, but was one of known 4 to actually survive, already making him a legend of his era

Morality & Philosophy

He witnessed the most powerful mortal in his life, Blackbeard, grow so close to conquering the world as he desired in the method he would have done it himself; but his old view of strength and what was required to conquer the new world was shattered as he was ultimately beaten anyways. This would fundamentally change the traditional mindset imbedded in all chromatic dragons and grant him the cunning and disposition to rally other dragons.

Might is most important. Only the strongest survive and get what they are due, so I must be the strongest of all.

Might is not Isolated. Absolute strength is not just an accumulation of individual power, but the power you manage to acquire from others as well.

Might is Strategic. No matter how powerful you are, a lack of cunning will destroy you. To make an enemy of the entire world in isolation all at once is the most foolish thing you can do.

Motivation

His goal is the conquer the New World as his hoard and name it after himself; an ambition all chromatic dragons yearn for and claim to pursue, but subconsciously give up on it as they settle for their measly pile of gold on tiny islands untouched. Among all the known dragons, he is the only one that seems to truly be seeking it out and making ground in.

While they are mighty now, he is aware that the 4 dragons he has authority over is not enough to truly succeed. He is also aware that more young/adult dragons he brings along will quickly increase the chance of the crew destroying itself. Thus one of his major goals kept under the radar is the theft of opposing dragon's eggs to someday have them grown and taught to be completely loyal to him and lay siege on the New World in earnest.
