Zealots of Disaster

"We serve the greater good like any other follower of the Prime Deities. The only reason you despise us so much is because we are proof the greater good does not serve mortality like you hope it does."
— Rayleigh, The Gale

Common Alignment: Chaotic

The Zealots of Disaster are nomadic warriors of Teiva that worship her as the goddess of natural disasters. They are scattered across the realm with the goal of enacting natural balance in the world through violence.

Disaster Zealots are very rare across the world, not only because Teiva chooses very few, but because new zealots die very quickly in their new destructive way of life. When a zealot accepts this title, It is said that they become a beacon for chaos and destruction and an individual that calls themselves one without Teiva's approval will die twice as fast from it. Due to this, it is said that a zealot that manages to live a long time is as powerful as natural disasters themselves.

Because it is illegal to worship Teiva as the Storm Queen, they are made an antagonist by The Prime Temples and hunted as terrorists. Any Zealot of Disaster that is alive is either in hiding or a pirate because of this. Not every individual listed as a Zealot by The World Authority actually follows Teiva as the Storm Queen however. If a follower of Teiva happens to cause fear in the temples, opposes their goals, or gets in their way; they can easily be marked as a Zealot with little resistance to get rid of them with the most notable example being Ogmund, The Storm.

Ideals and beliefs:

The mission of any follower of Teiva is to maintain the natural balance of the world, and the purpose of the zealots is to destroy the unnatural that harm that balance. All zealots have a unifying understanding that suffering is a normal, expected facet of life and to avoid doing what must be done to avoid suffering towards others or themselves is cowardice.

Despite this, the list of zealots range across the moral spectrum. from nobler figures who seek out and destroy forces of evil to instill fear in the vile, to scum that inflict fear in everyone else as well. Because of this, most zealots do not work together and often try to kill each other, with higher level zealots trying to teach other followers their own interpretation of balance and disaster.

  • Motto for evil zealots:

"Natural disaster kills the naturally weak and the cowards that rely on unnatural evils for strength, enabling the naturally strong to thrive as they should."

  • Motto for good zealots:

"Natural disaster strengthens humanity; and allows for the conquest of all evils that seek to enslave them, serving the natural balance."
