Gailur Altua

Gailur Altua is the highest point in the Biluzik Archipelago, located on the island of Irlandia. It is considered the personal property of the Zai family, the royal family of the Kingdom of Herria. It has been used as the burial grounds for the Zai for the last several hundred years. At the peak of Gailur Altua is a large stone crypt that contains the bones of the Zai ancestors, and great standing stones have been erected at various points around the mountain, each dedicated to a particular member of the Zai family.
There are several paths one might take to reach the summit. Most of these are considered to be Bizidunen Bidea, or a Path of the Living. One path is special, and it is the Hildakoen Bidea, the Path of the Dead. This is the path used during the funeral processions, and only those who are a part of the ceremony may ascend via the Hildakoen Bidea. Legend claims that those who have broken this tradition do not leave the mountain alive, although there are cases of Zai who are stricken with terminal conditions choosing to ascend the Hildakoen Bidea as their last action in life.
By law and tradition, access to the mountain and the crypt is restricted to members of the Zai family, and one may only ascend if a member of the family serves as an escort. To ascend the mountain without an escort is considered an act of treason, and carries a penalty of death.

Notable Spirits

The Biluzik Archipelago is famous for the large number of ascended eidolon that inhabit the islands, and nowhere is this more noticeable than on the Gailur Altua. The eidolons of deceased Zai are present on the mountain, and bound to its spiritual energy via the standing stones erected in their memory. It is said that these stones inspired the Clarati sorcerer Clarion, who attempted to replicate the effect in the Stone Archives near the city of Ystwyth. The eidolons of Gailur Altua do seem to suffer less distortion than most, and retain their true personalities for a long time. However, they are not immune to the ravages of the Egregoric Force, and many of the oldest spirits have amalgamated into a single entity known only as Zai. Zai stands as a divine patron and guardian of the Kingdom of Herria, and contains the experiences of all the Zai family within itself, including that of the independent eidolons of the mountain. It is common for the King of Herria to consult with Zai when difficult circumstances arise, and the spirit has been able to focus the spiritual power of the Kingdom to perform miracles when the need arises.
