Shebar (Sheh-BAR)

Shebar is at once a city, a kingdom, and an ancient empire. Sitting on the banks of the Heartland River, the city of Shebar has been the crown jewel in Somaj for over a thousand years. Yet even before that it was the seat of an ancient Kedi empire, with monuments left behind by the ancient pharaohs still decorating the land and the city. It is here that legends say Urah revealed himself to a poor slave, the first cleric, and Shebar has been the holy city of Uram ever since. Shebar has been a theocratic nation for centuries, though traditionally the high cleric has appointed lords to oversee the land and only taken a direct role when needed. Twice a high cleric has sought to build an empire, and twice they were denounced and replaced from within the loosely organized church.   The city itself is the heart of the modern country, and was the largest trade city in the world for most of known history. Here can be found members of every nation, race, and religion in Errath . Standing tall over the city is the great Dome of the Sun, a monumental cathedral dedicated to Urah, said to be constructed from the palace where the first prophet once toiled as a slave. Four great spires are seated around it at the cardinal directions dedicated to the elemental children of the gods. Across from the Dome construction is underway on the Caliph's palace, the new center of the Somaji goverment.   While the nation of Shebar covers a wide land on the maps, most of it is trackless sands that are part of the Alsun Desert . Little civilization exists far from the banks of the Heartland river, though the halflings of the Alsun are adept at finding oases hidden among the sand. Adventurers continue to strike into the desert as they have for millennia, trying to find the ancient buried secrets of the Kedi empire.
