Sailor's Speech

Sailing ships on the Merkessi Sea early on realized they needed a way to communicate between each other and lighthouses and other outposts at sea, and that not everyone would speak the sme languages. Sailor's Speech was first developed by ship's mages using the prestidigitation cantrip to create simple lights and colors as a means to communicate. The language started as only communicating basic concepts, but has become able to convey an incredible array of needed nautical information over time.
Sailor's Speech has become a univeral method of basic communication for ships and sailors accross Errath, and is ubiquitous among sailors. It can be added as a language proficiency to any fitting background.
While originally developed primarily for use by those with prestidigitation, there are adapted versions using lanterns and flags in emergencies.

Writing System

Originally there had been no writing system, but the need to teach the language to others eventually led to guides to the symbology, with images for the different symbols.
