Hellos and Goodbyes: RPG Session 15

General Summary

"You watch as the two, Talas talking incredibly loudly and Kilar being ever the listener, walk off into the midday sun, on their way to whatever adventures await them..."   ~We had to stop at this point because I started crying.

Dramatis Personae

Heroes of the Story:

  • Gúrda Thérun, a Frost Dwarf druid from the wild North;
  • Geort Adanar, a human paladin and a rough and tumble sort;
  • Melé Alkabahar, a human avenger, seeking glory in battle against evil; and
  • Daz Dromégar, a human bard, aiming to defeat the local bandits and free his old friends.
  • In The Deranti Bandits' clutches:

  • Talas Pódraga, a dancer; and
  • Kilar Vasarni, the former leader of a musician's troupe.
  • What Happened

    The Drakeslayers, flush from their victory over the treacherous Meti Aslingar, proceeded to check the remaining rooms for any treasures or hidden enemies. They found a chest containing much of the bandits' riches, as well as a letter on Meti's body that read:
    “Greetings and salutations, Meti:   “I am pleased to hear of your recent escapades in the Forest. Capturing a troupe of musicians just before their next performance might have been a bit of a rash move, but congratulations nonetheless. It means that our plans are moving into motion much quicker than expected, but such a thing is not too much trouble.  Wildemar - I believe that is the correct spelling of his name - has become more restless of late, and his pirates are becoming a little bit too conspicuous. I have been pleading with him by similar correspondence to wait a little longer, but he and his compatriots seem to have a grossly large appetite for alcohol that requires regular muggings, hold-ups, and raids to keep up. All the same, he is doing his work.   “At home, my preparations are nearly complete. In a couple of weeks from when this letter arrives, I will be (stained by blood) people may not be behind me, but it doesn’t matter. The disinformation spread by my agents has many believing that the Empire is planning on removing the Frostward garrison so as to protect their own heartland and this makes them compliant to my wishes.   “When we next correspond, it will come with news, good or ill, of my assault. Best of wishes.”   (remainder ripped off)
      This letter, naturally, made Gúrda very nervous, as an organization of bandits in the neighbourhood of the Frostward would put them within a few days travel of their home.   After sneaking back out of the ruined castle the way they had come, Daz became dissatisfied that the members of his troupe were not to be found in the castle. At this point, Geort reminded Daz that there was another large building nearby which may be where they were being held. With that, the group set off back towards the old library of Calteri, now ruined and boarded up from centuries of neglect and recent bandit occupation.   In an attempt to sneak their way in, Gúrda and Daz flanked around to the back of the library, but were nearly caught by the two brigands stationed inside. The other two created a distraction at the main doors to the library and the dwarf and the bard smashed through a boarded-up window to gain entry into the place.   After a short battle with the two guards and a shifty spy who kept leaping out of the shadowed halls of the library, the party was victorious and began to free the various prisoners hemmed in by the fallen bookshelves of the place. Two of the people inside, to Daz's surprise, were Talas and Kilar, two members of his previous troupe! After a short reunion, the four adventurers and their crowd of prisoners escaped the city and began to flee northward in the direction of Ashton.   After a short travel to the town, the party were thanked by the captain of the Imperial Army in that location. While waiting for their full reward to arrive from the larger city of Frelg, Daz gave a significant amount of the money he had won to Talas and Kilar, telling them that he had found a greater purpose for his musical prowess and that they should continue doing what they did best. The two, sad that Daz would not be joining them, indeed left later that morning. With more evil to defeat in the future and having exhausted much of their supplies, the Drakeslayers took a well-deserved rest in Ashton...   Note: Sorry about being a month late with this update! The group is taking a hiatus for the remainder of the year as many of us are busy with school until December.
