Dom Aslkir

As you enter the little building at the mines, you immediately see a portly man seated at the desk. He has a slight tan to his skin, likely from days working out in the mines. He's wearing a grey tunic and white trousers, yellowed a bit with age, and a small brass ring glitters on his finger. His short black hair does very little to obscure a couple of pox scars around the base of his eyebrows.   He's got a pile of forms that he is looking through and signing and sealing with a speed that astounds you. Then, with a flourish, he moves the entire pile over to the side and notices you for the first time. He's taken aback for a second and then says, "H-hello, I'm the secretary for the Foreman of the Mines. Can I help you?"

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Dom is of a stockier build, as he rarely gets the opportunity to exercise. Despite this lack of activity, he is still very spry and has good hand-eye coordination.

Body Features

His pastoral roots are indicated through this slight tan.

Identifying Characteristics

A touch of pox that he got as a small child caused him to have small scars underneath his eyebrows.

Apparel & Accessories

He enjoys wearing simple grey-white clothing.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Dom was born to a group of animal herders up north towards Domiel, and his parents were often drunk or otherwise incapacitated. This meant that Dom and his siblings were truly the ones who got any work done. Having to do the work of most of his siblings by nature of being the oldest meant that he held the responsibility of the family on his shoulders for a very long time. Eventually, he got the opportunity to learn to read and write, and he jumped at the opportunity, eschewing the usual military service for work in the civil service. He was assigned to his hometown's Army barracks, and after a few years he was reassigned to the Foreman's office in Plainér Town.   The Drakeslayers made his acquaintance while searching the Plainér Mines for the dragon and its masters, and he was very helpful to them.

Morality & Philosophy

A lifetime of picking up after other people and trying to make up for other people's shortcomings has made him believe that he is the only person that can do things right, and he is very slow to let others do his work for him. This also makes him incredibly good at complaining, and he is often caught bemoaning this person or that organization.

Taboos

  • He will refuse to have other people work with him or for him, as he doesn't think that other people can do his job properly.
  • Personality Characteristics

    Motivation

Dom truly believes that only he can fix the various messes of this world, and so he is constantly adding new tasks to his to-do list. He wants to be the one person in charge of everything, and so he has dreams of being a diplomat or a politician, although that is a very elite caste indeed.

    Savvies & Ineptitudes

  • He knows the mines inside and out, even knowing a little about the history of the complex.
  • He's very wary of strangers, and he doesn't like talking to them very much.
  • Likes & Dislikes

  • He enjoys his work and enjoys having something to do.
  • Boredom is something that he cannot stand, and he will try to find something, anything, to do if he has no other tasks.
  • Virtues & Personality perks

  • A hard-working attitude.
  • An independent streak.
  • Vices & Personality flaws

  • He often gets in over his head in regards to responsibility.
  • Hygiene

He keeps his person quite clean, as would be expected for a scribe, but his clothing is often a little tattered or discoloured due to the fact that he doesn't commonly buy new clothes.

    Social

    Social Aptitude

He isn't very good at social interaction with strangers, which has to do with his mistrust of them, but he has very little issue taking with locals. He is a bit confident, as he often asks others for help with their chores or has to put his foot down with the miners. His manners are poor due to his social class and his unwillingness to learn them.

    Speech

He has a shaky voice when he speaks.

    Wealth & Financial state

He doesn't make much in the way of money from his work for the Foreman, so he tries to take on extra tasks from locals who need their laundry done or want some of the load taken off of them. This makes him enough extra money that he could conceivably get a better home or purchase some better clothing, but he rarely finds the time to do such things and stores the money in a safe place in his small house.
