Llysander Garwin

Lord Llysander Garwin (Regent of Damara, General of The Bloodstone Host)
LG Human Paladin
The Hero of Bloodstone, more specifically, the hero who liberated Damara from the yoke of Vaasa over the course of what is now called The Second Bloodstone War.   Llysander was born during a time of peace in Morovar Damara to Harryd and Gisele Garwin. Harryd was a talented wood-worker and had worked on many temples across Damara, building anything from pews to book cases to figurehead pieces. His patrons often required him to relocate and over time the Garwins migrated south stopping first in Praka to work on the Grand Library, then in Blackloche building chapels to Torm, and finally settling in Carthford around 1348 working as a cartwright.   As a boy, Llysander spent a lot of time in temples to Torm and Tyr, and so the messages of those Gods became known to him. He would often surprise the priests with in-depth knowledge of their ways. When an aging and wounded Paladin of Torm discovered Llysander in Carthford he realized the boy's potential and immediately set to training him. Harryd and Gisele beamed with pride. When the Vaasan forces started to come as far south as Blackloche, Harryd sent Llysander away with the Paladin. In the mountains between Arcata and Carmathan Llysander secretly finished his training and on a cold day in the winter of early 1354, the old Paladin passed away and in doing so entrusted to Llysander his armor and his enchanted bastard sword.   Soon after reentering the world, Llysander befriended the Dwarf "Hammerhand" and the two took to a life of adventure, exploring locations in sundered Arcata. They saw first hand what the rule of Vaasa's lords was doing to their lands and begin to confront the invaders, resisting where they could. After trying to locate his parents, and finding that they had perished under the cruelty of some minor thane of Zhengyi's, they began attacking the Vaasan invaders in earnest. In doing so the pair inspired others to resist also, and over time they gathered heroes to their side as they adventured (see the Heroes of Bloodstone).   Llysander and Androma were wed in the last days winter in early 1362 and together vowed to end Zhengyi's rule. They largely achieved this goal when they killed the Witch King on the slopes of the Tempest Cliffs and blasted his dead body through a portal to the Abyss, ending The Second Bloodstone War. For the next three years Llysander and Androma were celebrated as epic heroes. They tackled the daunting task of rebuilding of Damara just as heartily as they had fought during wartime. Where Zhengyi's despots still ruled, they brought liberation.   Eventually the battles subsided, and as the horrors of the occupation were slowly forgotten the post war period was not kind to the Garwins. The birth of their son Lloydin in 1371 indirectly led to Androma's death shortly thereafter. As the boy grew up it was clear that he was very different than his parents, and his was a troubled upbringing.

When Llysandder located a girl named Hayli Rybis, his spirits lifted for a time. As the rightful Princess to the throne of Damara, and a direct decendant of King Virdin, Llysander believed helping her would be the key to ensuring a long lasting peace for his homeland. As his estrangement with Lloydin grew he poured more energy into reestablishing the Court at Helgabal and raised Hayli as his own in the hopes that she would become a great Queen. At her 20th birthday celebration, she unceremoniously and unexpectedly dismissed him as her Regent. It is said that he was never seen to smile again after that day. Shortly thereafter Llysander retreated into solitude at the Temple of the Yellow Rose where he died quietly and without fanfare in 1392. Less than a dozen people attended his internment.
