Session 37: The... FLUKI Five?
38th of Snowmelt - 2cnd of Newgrowth
General Summary
The party takes some time to look at the inventory of the Starhammer. However, realizing their funds are running low, they decide to make a deal with Torren, the owner. They will deliver a small but incredibly heavy chest to Lord Emberfire of the Emberfire Smokestack in Brothers' Crossing. Killian immediately realizes he recognizes the name, as it is one of the patrons of the Bloated Bounty. Nevertheless, the party takes the deal and, with a hefty discount, they finish their purchases. They then retire to the local inn. Here, they have a quick chat with the Xayamid Empire tourist Sahmi, drink some glimmerdust cocktails, and lighten the coinpurse of one very drunk alltrader before turning in for the night. The next day they make a small stop at Meteoric Memento, a shop owned by an artistic Loxodon that makes sculptures and jewelry out of the meteoric stone, where the party purchases a few trinkets.
Aside from Killian sending a letter through the postal system of the Order, the party decides their business is concluded in the city and heads back over towards Knuc's tower. On the way, they realize they are in dire need of a new group name, as Felix looks to be planning to stick around for a while. After some deliberation, the party lands on the "FLUKI Five", as it is only slightly different from the previous "LUKI Four", though not all party members are as enthusiastic. The rest of the way back is relatively relaxing, and seems to be the nicest adventure the party has been on in a while. They happen upon a magic mushroom circle that shrouds all those within it, and spend the night in it. They also communicate with a few sparrows to keep a lookout for undead creatures and two‑headed crows, but find none except for one recently killed crow. However, their safe return is somewhat interrupted as Killian receives a message from Norfaed stating things are heating up in Brothers' Crossing and that he needs to speak to Killian as soon as possible. Thus, the party hurries along towards Knuc's tower.
Inside the tower, the party spends a relaxing evening, making the most of what is most likely the last relaxing night in a bit. In the meantime, Felix learns that the orb with the royal insignia of the Order he collected has to do with the inheritance of the Golden Order, and is in fact a royal artifact. Throughout the night, the FLUKI Five browse around each other's rooms a bit, which Knuc has mostly finished in the meantime, before all falling asleep.
The next day the party heads over to Brothers' Crossing by way of teleportation. As Knuc is unfamiliar with how the city has grown in the 400 years of his absence, he teleports them right into the center of The Continent's Corners Market. The party can immediately sense the tension, with very few citizens walking about. However, there is a large increase in guards patrolling the street. More worrying is that among them are both royal household guards and Truthbringers, the latter of which is a part of the clergy specializing in getting to the bottom of things by means of truth‑enforcing magic. Their teleportation immediately draws the attention of a group of guards that starts walking towards them. Seeing no reason to make themselves even more suspicious, the party heads towards the patrol, only to realize that an anti‑magic field surrounds the patrol. This in turn causes all magic around the group to stop working, including the moodrose of Killian and the magical disguise of Indra. This seems to spark something in the guards, as the royal household guard immediately calls for the arrest of the party, leaving the FLUKI Five uncertain of what they have done wrong and what awaits them...
